I LOST THE LOVE OF MY LIFE ON WEDNESDAY 07/01/2009

My best friend in the world lost his battle with the most terrible and cruel disease on the face of the planet, Degenerative Myelopathy. I noticed Cyber wasn't eating his food on Tuesday night. He has never turned down his chow in the 13 years he has blessed me with his presence. He even refused a piece of turkey sausage at breakfast the next morning. I rushed him to our pet clinic where we have been taking him for his acupuncture treatments and the vet said his gums were almost white and he had blood in his urine. Her best diagnosis was a ruptured spleen which would require immediate surgery. My poor baby couldn't handle this kind of trauma considering at this point in the progression of his already fatal disease, he could no longer walk without me holding him erect with a strap I fashioned that attached to the front of his cart. Cyber fought this disease like a trooper without even a whimper for over three years. I carried him in my arms up two flights of stairs twice a day for over a year. I discussed every possible option with Cybers very caring doctors and they both said that it was his time to move on, so at 3pm EST on Wednesday July 1, 2009, I held my precious little man in my arms as he fell limp and I witnessed Cyber running across the Rainbow Bridge with a tiny fairy on his powerful shoulders doing his favorite thing in the world, chasing sheep in the meadow. Rest In Peace my son. Your little heart will beat in my chest until I draw my last breath. Love forever, your Dad.

Paul, we had to make that heart-wrenching decision with our Caesar last year. He was 15. Thank you for doing what was best for Cyber. I will be praying for you.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss; the pain of it must be unimaginable. Our Butter has been having major health issues and I know how hard it is to see them sick, much less to lose them. I cried when I read your post. I pray that the days will get easier for you and yours. Joy and Butter

Paul, your loving words about dear Cyber show the depths of your sorrow but also the hope that ALL of us will someday again be surrounded by our loved ones. Not just the two-legged kind.

Sending my deepest sympathies Paul. I recently lost a dear corgi pal to the effects of DM, one to Lymphoma and one suspected to have a brain tumor. I dearly loved them all and they will be forever in my heart and etched in my memory. Your adoration for your dear boy shines in your writing. Know he is young once again and able to romp with the many that crossed the bridge before him.

Paul, I am so sorry. What you wrote was beautiful, and it made me cry too. You did the right thing by Cyber and I can tell he lived a beautiful, wonderful life under your care.

I am so sorry for your loss, and can relate to the heartache that you feel. My Rusty also had DM and a ruptured spleen a few years before the DM became apparent. He lived without his spleen, but when he contracted DM we saw the decline. 4/6/06 was such a hard day, and he is missed. Cyber will be joining others, and he will always live in your heart, Liz

Oh Paul... I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. I just lost the love of my life as well on April 29th. I know your pain. I read Sylvia Brown's book "All Pets Go To Heaven" during my mourning process. It did help some. Sorry to say, but, nothing really helps. Your Love of your life is waiting for you in a peaceful place. What a grand reunion it will be.

I am very sorry for your loss, and I empathize. Less than six months ago, my Scottie, Dylan, lost his battle with Cushing's Disease. He, too had difficulty in his last year, since he went blind almost overnight from the disease and also contracted diabetes and needed insulin. He sounds similar to your Cyber in that he did not complain or whimper once, either. His last day/night was similar. He actually ate in the morning, but refused to in the afternoon and evening and kept trying to go outside frantically and escape. He was gone by morning. I still can't believe he's gone sometimes, but I just try to remember the 10 years my family and I had with him. My thoughts are with you,
Nicole
