These last few weeks has been an adventure at Petfinder.com
Cricket didn't work out because the shelter didn't email me back or contact me at all about questions and concerns I had. So now I'm looking outside the state. My search has taken me to two different cities in Minnesota. Chloe in New Ulm, MN and Cooper in Tracy, MN.
Chloe has had it rough. she's been to two different homes and had problems because the people didn't properly understand the breed and its demands, and she nipped at small children on occasions. I don't know why, if it's her nature or if it was in self defense. Her shelter was the first one I contacted, and have made arrangements to travel there Thrusday night and meet with her Friday morning.
Tonight, I double-checked the corgi listings on Petfinder.com and found Cooper. He, too, has had some problems in his young life. He came from a home with a person who has some mental problems, and about ever 2 weeks or so this rescue agency has to come out and get the dog from this man because he didn't like the dog for one reason or another. Then he gets a different one! I sure hope there's something they can do about this guy. Needless to say, he may have suffered some abuse, but is an otherwise happy, energetic dog. He's the alpha type, and I think he'd be ok here. Riley is really rambunctious, and has submitted to other alphas he met in the past. My mother's male in particular.
So the plan is to travel to New Ulm Thursday night, see Chloe Friday morning, and see if Cooper's foster parents will be able to contact me in the meantime. It's about an hour between the two cities, so travel will be easy.
I hope one way or another I'll be coming home with a new fur kid!
