Still having problems

Chloe is still having problems with resource guarding. I got tagged the first night trying to break up a fight. Now tonight we had another one over a rawhide that was under my chair that I didn't realize was there. Chloe went for Riley as he tried to go for it after leaving the rawhide she already had. It's the since biggest issue we've had with her. So now everyone in the house has had an injury; Me, Riley, Chloe, and Brandon in that order. I keep trying to make sure there's nothing to fight… Continue

We're home!

We came back home from our adventure to Minnesota last night around 7:30pm. We had one major tussle in the car as Chloe felt a little cornered by Riley as we took them out to potty at one of the stops on the ride home. It's been 24 hours, and it's been bittersweet.

Chloe is such a vibrant personality, very out going, incredibly loving, and will follow you everywhere. The girl loves to run! She had a blast out in the backyard! But we've got some personal space issues with other dogs,… Continue

I'm likey adopting a rescue corgi

These last few weeks has been an adventure at Petfinder.com

Cricket didn't work out because the shelter didn't email me back or contact me at all about questions and concerns I had. So now I'm looking outside the state. My search has taken me to two different cities in Minnesota. Chloe in New Ulm, MN and Cooper in Tracy, MN.

Chloe has had it rough. she's been to two different homes and had problems because the people didn't properly understand the breed and its demands,… Continue

Las Vegas trip

Ok, so I took FOREVER to get back to this point, but life has been busy. In addition to the Las Vegas trip, I've had a Christmas homecoming to manage with family coming in from Montana, a new job, and just laziness in general.

So, here was the big news...

I got engaged!

That's right! On our Las Vegas vacation, Brandon proposed to me on a private gondola ride through the indoor waterways of the Venetian Hotel. We were serenaded by the most beautiful singing I've ever… Continue

The search is on!

This past Saturday, I made a trip to Madison, SD to look at Cricket, a rescue corgi. She was saved from a puppy mill at 4 years old. She sweet, loving, and a little shy. I took Riley and Brandon down to see her at a meet-and-greet at the Pamida. My first reaction of her was she was kind but timid. What surprised me was that after I got Riley out of the car, she came up to him first, instead of Riley making the first move. Riley was in full-on explore mode, and Cricket quietly came upt o greet… Continue

Countdown to Las Vegas!

Brandon and I leave for Las Vegas in 3 days. We'll be heading out Sunday for a stop over at his brother's house for the night. But, with the recent snowy weather that has arrived today, I'm starting to worry that roads are going to be icy. We recently had a few warm days, and that may turn the snow to water, then to ice overnight. About a week ago, we had our first snow of the season with turned out to be a blizzard. I'm hoping this isn't going to be a repeat of that.

If things go… Continue

Favorite Winter Weather Gear

With the winter season having hit South Dakota with full force, it was time to find the apropriate gear to face the elements with. Mt long Land's End coat I got for a present from my boyfriend last year: check! lined fleece gloves with the leather grips on the fingers: check! My favortie piece of winter weather attire, the 180º ear muffs: check!

And that's why I'm making this post. Those earmuffs are the best things around for cold weather, especially if it's coupled with blowing… Continue

The first snow of '08

With South Dakota actually getting seasons that felt like, well, seasons, winter greeted us in a very abnormal fashion: BLIZZARD!. That's right, after ending last year's winter in quiet fashion, experiencing 3 months of spring weather and rain, having a summer that was sunny and not too hot (never even broke 100 degrees in Pierre), and having a healthy dose of mild autumn temperatures and colors, winter....sucks.

It was a low pressure system, combined with two different wind… Continue
