Yesterday was a nervous day for everyone...

Jack was neutered yesterday, and of course, he was not happy about the whole thing.

Everything went well, and he came through like a little champ. :) Until they put the Elizabethan collar on him... Ha ha. Jack threw a fit that would make an angry four year old child blush. We eventually took it off because he was just so miserable with it on. He refused to lay down with it on, and fell asleep in his room standing up. I don't think he really needs it, he's not too interested in his stitches. Unfortunately, he's already attacked his sister Kujo four times since he's been home. I hope he settles down and stops being such a butt... I think he may just be a little creep in cute fluff..

ha.. We went through the whole neuter thing right before we got an unusual amount of snow last month. So Owen couldn't play in the snow for a week because of the water. On top of it - I couldn't find a collar for him (the cone) so we opted for an inflatable one which worked great until my husband put it on upside down giving our little chewer access to the stopper.. and then we watched money swirl down the drain :(

Awww. Monty never learned to walk with his head up so he kept getting the bottom of the cone stuck in the carpet. Unfortunately he did want to lick the stitches the second day so I just watched him like a hawk. Of course our luck his dissolving stitches didn't dissolve as planned and needed to be clipped 3 weeks later. I noticed new collars at PetCo that seem friendlier to the Corgi stature. If he ever needs it again I think I will go with one of them. All the best to Jack!

Gibson was also neutered yesterday :) My husband wanted to get him the collar just cause he thinks they're funny. Gibson hates to wear anything though, so I know it wouldn't last long on him. So far, he's been good and hasnt needed it.

Duncan managed to destroy his collar within two days. He didn't pay any attention to his stitches, so I was lucky there. The hardest part was keeping him quiet.......that drove me crazy!

Chester just got knifed today too! He's been pretty mellow since he got home but the meds are giving him a weak stomach. Is Jack licking his stitches at all? We were thinking about getting him the collar tomorrow but it doesn't seem worth it from all of your comments. We'll keep our eyes out. Good luck with your pup's recovery :)

LOL..I agree w/Sam..Great title. Here I thought you were in some kind of accident. I'm glad everything went well and it seems this didn't have much of an affect on him.

When we had Penny spayed we tried the collar - it resulted in her walking in small circles over and over and drooling uncontrollably. It was off pretty quickly. She didn't itch out of fear of the collar coming back I think.

Seamus didnt need the big whopping lampshade collar either after his surgery. He was just spiteful for a couple days and then bouncing off the walls again. Which sucks since they are supposed to stay kind of inactive the first week or two. He's started to mellow out WAY more than he ever did before so it was worth it. Give him another week or so.

Love the blog title :) How are the meds working so far? Just make sure he does not get to his stitches, stay away from water for now and watch out for infection. Speedy Recovery :)
