LeeLoo is our little miracle. We have been trying to purchase a house in Newburgh for about a month. Back and forth contract negotiations and about giving up on the house have stretched both my husband and I to our limits. But on the day we were to begin signing paper work for the house, we received an e-mail from the Ohio Valley Corgi rescue stating that they had found us a dog. She was 4, over weight, and named Olga.
We spoke with the foster parent and learned that she was everything we had wanted in a corgi. At 4, she was house broken, crate trained, altered and pretty much ready to roll. She had landed in the foster's house after being left at a humane society. The HS tried to contact local rescues but they were all full. Out of the kindness of her heart, a woman (well into her 60s) named Joan took 'Olga' into her home for a month and arranged our adoption. The work she did with 'Olga' on leash walking, weight loss and household manners have paid off and I currently have a wonderful, well mannered pup at my feet.
LeeLoo currently weighs 35 pounds. We have finally settled with the family who is is selling the house and hopefully within a month, LeeLoo will have a back yard to romp around. We are so glad she came into our lives!
Comment
Gwyn & Al recommend a volleyball or Nike Jr. child's basketball for romping in the yard. Get her weight down some more, not too fast. Be strong. Steel yourself against the guilt trips, nothing is more persuasive than a starving corgi.
Sounds like everyone got their Christmas wish. Congratulations!
So happy for you and LeeLoo!
What a wonderful story. Enjoy your new baby and home; what an exciting time! BTW - I love the name LeeLoo. I have a Lulabelle (cat) and she is a real LooLoo.
What great news! Congratulations, and thank goodness for Joan!
A great story about the kindness of people! Hooray for LeeLoo and you!
