Maybe we trained him out of it somehow?

I wish he spoke a bit more! The most that he does is whine at us, but he doesn't bark anymore and doesn't yip. :( I feel that maybe we did something wrong, or is it just a part of his personality?

Arrrrgh!

Sparty will bark to let us know that his toy has gone under the coffee table! He vocalizes about everything! Doesn't bother me but it sure annoys everyone else.

Al & Gwynn are so quiet they scare me. Won't even yip to be let inside. Al barks when he want's to play, and they bark at intruders.
A coupla times, they've been "misplaced" and wouldn't make a peep in reply to my increasingly panicked calls -- usually because they were right at my heels, in my blind spot -- once, I was hiking out alone in the dark on a very remote trail, and Gwynnie was suddenly... gone. I called and called, no reply. I had to go back and find her! Not far back, fortunately. I think it was too dark for even her to see. I should teach them to "Speak!" at a distance. Like a cordless phone pager.

I thought Bertie was going to be a quiet boy -- for his whole first year he never barked! Then one day, he heard a noise, barked a bit, looked startled at the sound of his own voice, and that was it! Now he talks to me all the time. All of his barking has a purpose ("Wind alert" "Time for a snack" "A chipmunk, look!") -- but it's a lot of barking.....sigh.

Wow... I'll lend you Trunks and you'll never complain about a quiet dog.

Some dogs are quiet and some are loud, just like humans. Pandora is quiet; Trunks is loud. I like the quiet much better.

My female really doesn't "speak" at all either. We have to doxies as well and they never shut up, lol, and unfortunately my male, Levi, has decided to learn from them. But Birgitta really doesn't bark, or even whine. How bizarre. I wonder why that is?

That is strange. Leo talks all the time and I am learning to understand what he is saying. He never barks needlessly and so has never been scolded or told not to talk. Leo is not much of a whiner. Too bad your pup does not say anything.
