I know this has nothing to do with Corgis, but we do have some cat owners here.
I have a vet appointment this afternoon and I am very worried.
My elderly (16+ year old) cat seems to have sprouted a large growth overnight. One day it was not there and the next day it was huge. It's the size of two golf balls or so and it's directly in front of her hip when she is standing. When she lays down her hip slides forward and the mass seems to go behind her hip.
When I first saw it last night, it's so bad I briefly thought she somehow dislocated her hip altogether. It feels fairly firm and she is non-reactive when I gently palpate it, but I have no idea what I'm feeling for. She's not limping, she's hopping off of things just fine (she hasn't jumped onto most things in a couple years), she's coming for pettings and purrs. However, when I came home from work yesterday evening, she was under the covers and did not come out to see me, which is unusual but has happened on occasion before.
Could a tumor or cyst possibly grow that fast? Could it be some sort of large muscle injury that just filled with fluid? I don't think there is anything in that area that could herniate.
I just don't have a good feeling about this at all.
