New Family Member!

We picked up the newest member to our family last night, yay! Her name is Poppet and she is a 4 yr. old petite, sweet, red and white pembroke with a tail. She was originally from Australia, hence the tail. She came from the same breeder as Cane. She knew that we were planning on getting a second corgi last summer but right after we brought Cane home in May I found out my cancer had returned so we had to put that on the back burner. I am now in remission and have been doing good for the last 7 months so we contacted Cane's breeder and she thought Poppet would be a perfect companion for Cane and she offered for her to come and live with us and have us be her forever family. We are so lucky. The first night went really well and Cane did really well with her. Maybe a little jealousy so we are just giving him lots of love. Poppet is a little shy and needs to adjust to her new surroundings, but she is very playful and talkative, once we encourage her. It is just when we are relaxing watching TV or something that she seems unsure where she should be, so she will go and hide in the hallway. I don't want to overwhelm her, so right now we letting her figure things out, hopefully it won't take too long.

She looks like a lovely little girl. We brought home a retired show dog/breeding dog a year ago next week, and it did take a good month or so for her real personality to shine through. She was afraid of big dogs when we got her, and a bit shy. Her real personality is neither of those things, but she's a fairly submissive dog and was not really sure of her place.

Enjoy your new girl, and such good news that your cancer is in remission as well.
