My brother and sister-in-law adopted/rescued this little sweetheart that they named Elly this past Friday. It's all kinda crazy how it all happened. It all began when I started the process of adopting my puppy Harrison, my brother and sis in law were interested in getting a puppy as well. So, they began looking for a doggy in shelters and rescues. After several failed attempts we were told about a lady who had corgi/toy poodle puppies she was looking for homes for. So they jumped at the chance to meet the litter. The lady was located 2 hours away and Friday night the 3 of us made the long drive. Half way into our trip, the lady calls us and tells us she only has one puppy left. We were stocked. We thought we were going to go see the puppies, the lady's house, the parents of the litt

er,etc. So, we get there. And "THERE" is not a house. Its a random shopping center. All very suspicious. The lady pulls up, driving like a manic, gets off and hands us the puppy. My sister in law looks at the puppies beautiful little eyes and saids " ok, we'll take her"

My family and I feel like we rescued this little pup. When we got her Friday, she could barely walk and did not bark. She was dirty and smelled like urine. While bathing her we could see she had fleas, ticks, and bite marks. Her stomach is hard which is most likely parasites. It makes me really mad that people could take so little care of their animals!

But what matters now is that Elly is in a loving home. She already had her first vet visit and puppy shots. She's playing alot more and even met a kitten. Only time will tell what she will grow up to look like, but of course we're all hoping she looks like a corgi. But for now we're all just hoping she gets healthy and srtong so she can play with Harrison :)

We were told she's 9 weeks old but that could be a lie, any ideas?

Bless you and your family for rescuing this little girl!  That woman who 'dumped' her should be ashamed but this little girl is one lucky pup.  And she's absolutely adorable on top of everything!  Please keep us posted how she does with lots of pics!

UPDATE:  Just to clear some things up. We did not pay for the puppy. The owner did not want the litter of puppies. She was also not a breeder. We saw the opportunity to give the puppy a better life and we jumped at the chance. thanks.

Hi Melyza, I am glad the dog is in a better environement, however this is not the proper way to "rescue" or "adopt" a dog. The "breeder" violated state law, the only way to put them out of business is stop "purchasing" and educate others of their illegal practice. Here's a list of state lemon laws, know your rights, keep a record of all communication, report them. It is not my intention to rain on your parade, I believe you do want to make a difference and provide information for your family to do so.

Now, you can tell people about the story of how you get the dog that "fell off the back of the truck...."  BTW, it is a good looking puppy!
