I decided to write my Truck updates as a blog post instead of a discussion, I think its more appropriate here. Anyway, today marks week 1 with Truck. So far things have gone great. Yesterday was a day that could have been a disaster but actually turned out pretty well. As I have said before, Truck has separation anxiety. I noticed silver lines on his teeth and asked my vet about them and she said it was from chewing the bars of a cage or fence, so despite the owners insistence he is great in a kennel/crate, clearly he has not been. Whenever I leave the house, I put him in his crate with an interactive treat toy to keep him busy for a bit and also to make me leaving a good thing. Well yesterday I was in a hurry and he was refusing to go in his crate. Finally I corralled him in his crate, gave him his toy and rushed out the door. Well apparently I didn't lock the crate all the way because when I came home I was greeted by two corgis instead of just Frank! Thursdays are my longest days and I was gone for 7 1/2 hours, so when I came home to Truck being out I got really worried about what kind of damage I'd find. I was pleased to find only one pee spot and one torn up toy (which could be either Frank or Truck, no way to tell). Crisis averted! Unfortunately I think he may have been chasing the cats, because one of my cats refuses to come inside now. She started to come in after I got home and he went to chase her out again, but luckily I was able to say "No" really loud and stern and that stopped him in his tracks. Damage has already been done though bc despite the rain the cat hasn't come in today. I know she was in last night at least and there are a lot of thick bushes for shelter right outside my door. I'd much rather have her inside with this weather though. Franklin and Truck continue to play multiple times a day and he is getting really good off leash. I still keep a leash attached to him, but I am dropping it more and more and letting him get a little farther away from me then calling him back. So far so good. I am seeing that is anxiousness and fear will make some training quite a bit easier than if he were a really confident and independent dog. I haven't let him on my furniture because he has a habit of pushing right up in your face all the time and I want him to learn manners. He doesn't seem to mind because he LOOOOOOOOOVES the bed Franklin won in the model contest. This makes me really happy because it is a really really expensive bed basically just sitting unused. Now it gets used all the time! Yay! I'm so glad to have a second dog this weekend with all this rain. Walks will be shorter but Franklin will still have an outlet for all his energy. You really don't realize how energetic your dog is until you get another one with a "normal" energy level! Lol

I'm glad he's getting a little better! I bet you will whip him into shape in no time! In the meantime, I demand more pictures. ;D
Maybe put the dogs up where the cat can't see them, then open a can of tuna and lure him in. They get dog savvy after awhile...I'm glad that things are going well though! It's so cute to watch two dogs be best friends and play together..shows you how "human" they are. :-)
Just precious :)
Sounds like Truck is fitting in quite well. I love the picture with both of them on the expensive dog bed. Glad it is getting used. We bought Noodles a new dog bed for Christmas, but still haven't disposed of the old one. He usually goes to his old one before his new bed (his new bed is in our bedroom and the old bed is in my craft room). Silly boy, guess it feels better and it smells like him.
Great news...and only a week? I know when I had Calvin(Joanna,Rainy and Calvin) he just fit in and that was so wonderful. Enjoy that fun!!!!!
