Question about Interceptor (heart worm preventative)

I've been wondering for the past few months-- which dose should I give Madoc? He's been on the smaller dose for dogs UP TO 26 pounds. I have a feeling that his weight will always hover around 26 pounds. If your corgi is about 26 to 28 pounds, which dose does your vet recommend and you use? Things on the borderline are troubling! I don't want to use too strong a dose, but naturally I want him protected here in Virginia where mosquitoes can be monsters in the summer. Thanks for any advice!

Thanks so much! I knew I could rely on this group. We'll have a weigh-in this week and then I'll order up a supply for several months. I've been buying one pill at a time while checking his size.

yep, us too we hover 25-26 with Gem and Ed is a monster so he just keeps getting bigger...we go with the 26+ and they also told us not to worry about over medicating.

Our vet goes up to the 26 + pounds. She goes between 25 and 26, was 27 when he moved it up.

my corgis are 27 and 28lbs, so we get the larger dose. I don't think there is a huge difference in price.

Over 26 lb, even if it's a pound over, they're supposed to get the larger dose. It's a VERY small dose, even at the larger size, so it's generally not worrisome to go over a little bit.
