Today our Winston passed away.

I've been remiss in not keeping up with his story.

He had a bad spell around Easter last year (2014)but pulled through after 3 weeks of tube feedings around the clock. The chronic anemia was diagnosed as Von Willibrands disease. He gained weight back and tho the hip dysplasia made it slow going, he did well through the summer & fall. His appetite came back, he spent hours in the yard playing with his cone and when snow came, he did his fair share of rolling in it. After Christmas he started going down hill. I'd vowed not to take him back to the vet. He remained pain free untill the last week, at which point I added back in Rimadyl.

He passed away early this morning.

RIP my beloved Winston.

Thank you folks. There will be another puppy...that story will soon be written with the little tyke arriving some time in the summer--the buns aren't in the oven yet :) The story of those little buns will tickle everyone. The last couple of years have precluded writing much. There have  been a number of family & business issues that got in the way.  Things are much better now. I hope to catch up soon. Winston's illness has been long & draining on all of us.  We need the time to recoup from Win's illness & passing. As my daughter said, 'I'm so sad to see him go, but I'm glad he went.'  Devery, the dogs owner, was devastated...Win was his first dog & he got him when he was 10. He'll be 20 in April. So....we'll heal. It's going to take time. Thank you all for your kind words. S.

My condolences for you and your family.
I call my Wally "King of Corgis", as they all deserve but Winston seemed to be truly one unique King of the Breed with a look like that.   He's truly beautiful.

Very sorry to hear it. It's so painful...sympathies!

I am so sorry.  It is so very hard to loose them.  My thirteen year old cat Zo died this morning so I really feel your pain.  I'm hoping tomorrow will be just a tiny bit better for both of us.

I'm so sorry to hear you lost your sweet boy.  It is never easy.  Please honor him by getting a new baby when you can handle it.  Best wishes.
