So this morning we had to take our bunnie, a miniature Rex, to the Emergency Veterinarian who is a Bunny Specialist since Sniffles eye was bulging out of her head. His diagnosis was from Tooth Root problems which caused an abscess behind her left eye. We could have done surgery to remove the eye but with the costs of the medications, the multiple surgeries and there being no guarantee that she would pull through it left our only other option, to send her to Heaven far too early.
I am not sure if there are any other MyCorgi-ers out there that have bunnies or "rodent" type animals, but from what the Specialist said, this is a very common problem amongst smaller rodents (95% common). He said we did everything right by her (not feeding her bread or any sugary human foods) and combining timothy hay into their diest (her brother is still alive and hopping at 5 years old). I just needed an outlet for these feelings. My husband had them both since they were ity bity things about the size of a croissant roll each.
Everyone squish their 4-legged family a little closer tonight. And their 2-legged counterparts also. Just always tell the ones you love, that you love them. And don't wait for another opportunity because the present is the best time.
