I have been thinking a lot about my attachment to mycorgi.com lately. Did you know that I check in here before I check Facebook? That I cry sometimes because a member has to say goodbye to the corgi in their life whether it is due to death or changing fortunes. I am afraid to look at some of the posts of corgis needing home because it just is so painful. I chime in on everything because I just want the poster to know that someone is listening and cares. Why does the activity here affect me so?

I think I have decided that this feels a little like family. I am sad when you are sad and I listen to your stories even when I know it will upset me. I am happy for all of the new puppies even though I sometimes wonder if the owners are ready (just like I am when some of my actual family shares that they are pregnant). I think about you as your send your dogs over the rainbow bridge because I know how much it hurts.

I have loved this connection through good and bad. My family has started to wonder that I don’t need a hobby. I asked a friend if she thought that people who own Miniature Schnauzers or Boxers have a site like this and feel the same connection. We decided that corgi owners are the ones who are a rare breed. They are full of love and never afraid to laugh at themselves. They are able to see the strength and beauty when others just see size. They are tolerant of less than perfect behavior and wild amounts of shedding. They are willing to lift someone up while they might be down themselves.

Thanks for showing up here day after day. Thank you for being willing to share your stories and your time.
Your friend,
Cindi (and Twinkie)

Nice post. I am a bit addicted also. I relay stories and pictures to family. It is a great website.

That's lovely, and I feel the same way.  I only have facebook to keep an eye on some teens and young adults of my acquaintence, but my social networking life is here.  I read a ton more than I write, and I share pictures and things with people at work (look at the pic of the day is a standard email -- I work from home, so communicate with my office through IM and email only) -- and now they miss it when I'm on vacation, even though they don't have Corgis of their own.  It's contagious as well as a happy addiction.

Thank you for putting into words so beautifully how I feel also. I spent last night crying reading some of the stories of losing a beloved Corgi. My husband has to endure listening to me tell him all about all the Corgis and their families that I've seen on this site...mind you I have never met any of them!!  I think we are all bonded with our love of this breed. There is just something about a Corgi!!!!!♥♥♥

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one that really feels the joys and pains of the other members deeply. It's like you said " They are full of love and never afraid to laugh at themselves." It's probably a good thing that I didn't discover this site before I got my corgi girl, otherwise I might have dropped everything to go find one before I was actually ready. It's so fun to share stories about this wonderful breed of dog. Thanks for this heartfelt post.

Cindi, You have a wonderful way with words.  I feel exactly the same way you do.  I get so much from everyone on this site and I too sit and cry when someone says goodbye to the love of their life.  I am sensitive to this because I said goodbye to my Chloe less than a month ago.  I love reading about all the funy things and looking at the pictures that people post.  I have to do this at least twice per day.  Once at work and then at night after dinner is done.  I look to see if anyone has come up with something new that I am just gonna have to have in order to survive with my Corgi!!!  So yes this site is additive, but I feel that it is a good addiction!!!  Thanks MyCorgi.com for giving me my "fix" twice a day!  Debra & Solomon

Not only are the people here supportive, but they have given me more information about Corgis so I'll be even better prepared when the "right" one comes along:)  It has been helpful/comforting to view other's videos and pictures while getting over my loss. They make me laugh!!  And, yes, I've been more interested in reading here than FB lately!!  Thanks everyone!!  P.S.  I may have good news in the near future - there is a Corgi available to me.

After finding out that Oona is half Australian Cattle Dog, I decided to see if I could find a site like this one. (MyACD would be too easy, right?) There is not much. There are a few forums out there but they are not so well taken care of, and the people tend to just ask questions and then have them answered (usually in a pretty rude way). There were no stories, there were no personal journeys, there was no feeling to the sites.

So I decided to focus on the Corgi mix, instead of the Heeler mix! I figure there are members on here that own ACD's and can help if I have any questions... without making me feel little because I am a "casual" herding dog owner.

I will click my heels together and repeat "There is no place like MyCorgi.com"!

I totally agree!  I also check here before my facebook page.  This weekend I wanted to stop at our friends house who have 3 corgis... my husband said you just want to visit the corgis, not the people.   While that is not true, my first thought was how their corgis were doing and what Sally & Boo would think of the puppy!! :)

I also feel the same about the site.  It's funny how I don't know anyone personally, but I still get on and read through all the blogs in the morning.  I think one part of it is that I like to be informed. Another, I just like reading abut the things that these dogs do for us and the affect they have on us.  (and yes, this morning I checked mycorgi before facebook) :)
