6 weeks is really young, if you can I would wait until at least 8. I have Pembrokes but the main advice I would give is sign up for classes. Puppy as well as obedience later. These are funny, smart dogs with the ability to cop a real attitude sometimes. You will need help recognizing when they are getting their way and how to step in in a very positive way. Looking forward to photos.

Corgis come in a range of sizes but I think they are commonly are 22 - 30lbs for Pembroke and Cardis run bigger, 25-38lbs

I've always thought of Corgis as a medium sized dog, just not tall.  Don't call them short though or you'll hurt their feelings. They don't know they are short.  ;-)  As someone else noted, judge by their length, not their height.  A crate should be long enough so they can lay down comfortably and wide enough to be able to easily turn around inside.  Gromit has a large wire crate and it's big enough for him and his wiener dog sister, Holly, when we travel.  A medium/large size crate would do him fine by himself.

Some litter mates have really strong bonds. They may decide to gang up on you and not listen to you all together. Be patient and firm with them.

That is so funny!!! From the stories on here Corgis seem like very funny little dogs. Is Jake not that way,Just Arthur?

Arthur (aka Arturio) is a bit of curmudgeon.   He's like Walter in the Jeff Dunham skits but he's always The Corgi.  he keeps watch on everthing but doesn't want anything to do with Jake or Ziva the cat.  When Jake and Ziva really mix it up he's runs over and stares at Ziva just make sure she's OK.

The only exception is the G.Sheppard, Megan, down the street.  They are lovers at heart.  When Megan drives by she always has her head out the window and cries out for her Arthur.  Whenever Arthur goes out he always looks toward her house for her.  When he stays overnight they sleep together with him curled up between her long shepard legs.  Kind of like doggy spooning.  When she plays fetch, Arthur, ever the corgi, couldn't care less about the stick.  He is fixated on her and tries to herd her except she's way faster.   Jake always tries to musle in and grab the stick.  You have to watch them close to see it all but it's there.

Ok great I haven't been able to find anything with their length. So I will just go by that. Everyone else I have talked to says to go by if they are a small or medium dog. Thank you, You have been a huge help!

Ok two crates it is then. I thought they would be a medium dog but again they could be small.

Arthur must be an intimidating little guy, LOL that is so funny!

Size??  I went by their length so they'd have enough room to stretch out.  If you get one long enough it will be tall enough.  They're about 28" high, 36" long and 24" wide or there about.  They both have two blankets in them that The Lads like to adjust to their taste.

I have always used two crates and I agree; it becomes their private place.  Jake will go in his sometimes just to get away (from what I haven't a clue).  We have the open wire type beause I didn't want them to feel too restricted or shut-away.  So their travel is restricted but they can still what's happening.

I consider them to be 'Small' dogs but you can't tell them that if you've ever seen one get into defensive mode against something from the outside.  Arthur has bitten a chunk off the nose of a boxer and collie who overstayed their welcome.
