Ein had her spay surgery this morning. Her mommy days are officially over! (Note: I never bred her---but she came from a corgi breeder). The vet sent me a text with a picture of her post surgery. She looked good. She comes home tomorrow. The house is awfully quiet without her!
I'm just curious about how the "cone-of-shame" is going to work in her crate. We crate her at night, and I'm just wondering how the cone is going to fit in there with her. Her crate is pretty roomy, but I'm just imagining that it would make it hard for her to turn around or get comfortable. Obviously she will have to wear it in there, so she doesn't lick or chew her incision. Anyone have any experience with this?
On a lighter note, some friends of ours brought their 6-month old son over to our house yesterday. Ein was actually the first dog he's ever seen, and I think he might have been the first baby Ein has ever seen. They were so cute together! The baby was squealing and laughing at Ein, and she was very curious of him--but very gentle too. I have no idea if she knew he was a tiny human or not. But since we plan to have kids one day, it was a relief to see how well she took to a baby!

When Sparty had to wear the cone for a long time I got a soft cone for him. It wasn't a lot more than the plastic one but so much more comfortable. I wish I had gotten one years ago for the times when we have needed one. They last forever!
@Laura well they didn't make it mandatory---actually I have to buy it if I want to keep it--but I figured I might as well have it around in case she messes with the sutures! Maybe I'll get lucky and she won't be bothered by them either
I know vets differ somewhat, but when Lucy was spayed, she didn't come home with a collar. She never seemed bothered by her sutures.
