For some reason lately I've been wanting to dote on the dogs more than usual and have had urges to give them some of my table scraps. In the past I've always been strict about not giving them any people food and sticking with minimal amounts of dog treats. I don't know what's come over me all of the sudden, but I felt like I needed an outlet. So I did a quick search and found these 2 articles: 10 “People” Foods for Dogs and 10 More "People" Food for Dogs. When I was at Sprouts today I picked up some green beans, squash, canned organic pumpkin puree, and grabbed a couple extra apples than usual. This afternoon I steamed all the green beans (without salt or seasonings), and had some for a snack myself and handed a few out to the pups. It felt so naughty. I know my husband wouldn't be pleased if he knew I was just handing out food. He's strict about all snacks being put in their bowls, so they sit by their bowls to beg instead of sitting in front of us drooling for some hand outs. It feels so good to be bad sometimes though.

I also took a can of the pumpkin puree (which was the consistency of baby food) and portioned it out into these little 3/4oz plastic soufflé cups (ice cube sized) and put them in the freezer. They froze up nicely and are now in a freezer bag. They'll be nice little frozen treats for a hot day... or any day. My dogs LOVE ice cubes, so they'll probably love these. Ein had fun licking out the can which is something else I never let the dogs do.

Over all, it was a blissfully sinful day, just not when it came to their health and nutrition. I'll always try to do what's best for my dogs, but you gotta let your hair down sometimes too.

your not alone!:) i have been doing that lately too lol my husband has been getting on me about it but i cant help it sometimes as teddy is always such a good boy. theres nothing wrong with a few treats here and there but i must say, please do not make it a habit otherwise they could get picky with there food or always beg. but u can always use those treats for training, or just have them sit and then give it to them and then sit down with them and see what else they will do for you:)
