First Teeth Cleaning

Teeth

At what age did your corgi have his/her first teeth cleaning with the vet? Ein is almost 7 months old and she has build up on her far back teeth. I attempt to brush her teeth, but I just can't get those back ones. She hates getting her teeth brushed so she wiggles and clamps down and makes it impossible. Our dog trainer told us that allowing her to chew a compressed… Continue

Special Treats

For some reason lately I've been wanting to dote on the dogs more than usual and have had urges to give them some of my table scraps. In the past I've always been strict about not giving them any people food and sticking with minimal amounts of dog treats. I don't know what's come over me all of the sudden, but I felt like I needed an outlet. So I did a quick search and found these 2 articles: 10…

Crating dogs without crate training

I am reading all the negative reviews on Amazon about the crate I just ordered for Ein. It amazes me how many people just cage their dogs without properly crate training them. Those poor scared dogs, and these people expect these crates to be indestructible.

Please, if your going to be crating your dog, take the time to train and teach them that their crate is their safe haven. Everyone will be so much happier. Here is an article I found extremely helpful when crate training…

Found this picture on my phone...

and I just had to share it. This was the 2nd and last time she ever slept on me. She's not a snuggler, so I'm glad I captured the moment.

It's that time.

They grow so fast when they're puppies that you really have to be diligent about updating their pictures on the microchip company profile. I updated Ein's Home Again profile pic today. When was the last time you did?

So it turns out I have a water lovin pup...

I watered my plants in the backyard for the first time since I got Ein (They're mostly self sustaining). It turns out she loves water. I had a feeling since she likes to splash and play in her water bowl, but this another confirmation. Here's the evidence.

This is me watering my lemon tree with my right hand and takin pictures with my left. LOL…

My Obedience Training Diary

This blog is a place for me to makes notes on what I'm learning in my 8 week obedience training course with my 4 month old corgi Ein. Feel free to read my posts and follow our obedience journey, but remember that this is very new to me, so the things I will be posting are things we are just now trying and learning.

The darkness of night brings the darkness to my heart

If funny how night time effect mood. I'm laying here in the dark, the only one left awake, and I just start feeling the sadness creep in. Sometimes it's overwhelming. I miss my companion Tally so much. She was so gentle, attentive, and could always sense when I needed to pet her. She will never be forgotten. Ein's not quite there yet, but she's still a rambunctious puppy whose a pretty self centered. LOL She'll get there. I'm lucky to have her helping me through the grief. I suppose going to…

After Last Night

Last night was rough. My corgi pup was spayed yesterday, and it caused her A LOT of discomfort. I gave her as much pain meds as I was allowed, but every little move or twitch caused her to shriek loudly or whine. So of course she was waking herself up (and me) every time she'd try to reposition herself in her dozing off stage. She was also having trouble moving around inside her crate with her cone on. So I made the bold move of letting her sleep all night outside her crate, on her soft little… Continue

Spay procedure on the 19th... Need advice

I'm having my 16 week old pembroke corgi spayed on the 19th of this month, and I had a long talk with a vet friend of mine about the procedure and now I'm a little paranoid. She told me that her office does the following for every single spay surgery:

physical exam before the surgery

blood panel work up

iv fluids during procedure

continuous pulse ox and blood pressure monitoring during procedure

pain meds for after, and to take…
