I went through the same thing with both my girls, I switched them to Timberwolf Ocean Blue grain free food made with fish. Fish I understand is the least allergy causing protein, they can't tolerate chicken, of beef pre-made.

I agree with trying a new vet to see if you can find what Yogi is allergic to! Some dogs do have grain or corn or wheat allergies, but it could also be pollen or insects or any number of other things. You could try changing food to see if it helps, but that's just a shot in the dark, really.

The steroids will stop the itching but it is really just a temporary fix for allergies because it is too strong to have him on for long. Can you change vets? You really should be trying to figure out what the allergy is to and there is a proicess that a vet should be able to guide you to. There has been a lot of discussion on allergies both in the corgis with allergies group and in the main discussion forum.

What are you feeding Yogi? Toby was scratching and biting so horribly that he was literally ripping out his fur in patches. I switched to feeding him no grain kibble and the scratching stopped.

Try adding salmon oil (this has more benefits than fish oil) to his food once a day. You can give them at least 2000 mg per day. Mine are on a maintenance of 1000 mg per day but I up it if the weather is really dry or they are itching ALOT. I also switched from off the shelf dog food to feeding RAW when Baron was 2. He all of a sudden started developing huge sores and was itching and losing hair like crazy. I stuck with the vet for about 6 months and finally asked a friend how to feed RAW. Within 2 weeks he was 100% better. Sores were healing, he wasn't itchy and hair was growing back. That was almost 4 years ago and he is fine. All of my guys eat RAW and they are doing great! I just did a complete blood panel on my older girl, Piaf, and other than a slightly elevated ph in her urine she is fine. I started all of them on liquid vitamin c for the ph and will retest her in about 6 months. I also feed little to no organ meat as this can also raise protein levels and stress kidneys. And as for steroids, I tried them with Baron for a minute and he was NUTS on them...not a good change of behavior so I stopped them immediately. The last time I was at the vet they asked what I had done for Baron as his coat is gorgeous and I just told them I switched to RAW. Fortunately I have vets that work with me on feeding RAW.

We have a cat with allergies. A few times a year he gets a prednisone shot (a steriod). It clears his skin right up! When he has an outbreak, I can feels bumps all over his skin...poor kitty.

Sidney would get itchy, but we started giving him fish oil capsules and it seems to make him feel better. I just buy the human ones, which are inexpensive at places like CostCo.

Try a 1/2 of a Benadrly( soild pills and just the simple allgergy one. There pink). I've used on my dog who also has allergies of fleas. I've also been told use it on my other dog to help with cars, because is surpose to make dogs sleep. But it did make her sleep . Just whanted to let you know just in case you see your dog acting sleepy. I've never had problem with it(make them sleepy). Do'nt worry. I hope this helps.
