I thought we were doing so good...
Eddy was coming to his name consistently. If we caught him squatting, and said "NO." he would stop mid-stream for us to take him outside. He was 'sit.'-ing and 'come here.'-ing for treats. But that was just 2 days ago. And now he is a disobedient pup!

Is he suddenly so comfortable at our house that he is toying with the rules? Can he break them- will we enforce them- etc etc?! I thought that this defiance wouldn't start for another couple of months, at least in my experience. All of a sudden he's forgot his name, his treats, and all those commands. Plus, 4 times yesterday he stared us right in the eye and peed while we hopped up and down saying "NO." The worst part: He peed in his kennel. It's wasn't the first time we've crated him, just a regular 'ol crate time!

We feel like failures!! And it's made us make a decision - puppy kindergarten as soon as he gets his 3rd shot on the 30th.

On another note - sometimes Eddy nips little kids' fingers or hair or noses when they're teasing him, poking him, stroking him, making fast movements, etc. Expected. Then the kids are like, "YOUR dog tried to BITE me, waaah." And I'm like, "I'm sorry, just move slowly, pet his back, not his face, and keep your hair and face away from the ground." They're neighbor kids, who play with him everyday. But everyday, they treat him the same, and get nipped at. It's really annoying because neither my puppy nor those kids are learning anything positive about each other. Half the time the parents are standing there, silently, watching. Siiighhhhhhhhhhhhh. Now I feel like sneaking out the back just to take him potty... Gah.

He might figure since he already did that stuff, no reason to do it again! Stay with what you are doing and he will come around. But protect your puppy from the children even if you have to tell them to leave him alone. Allowing them to poke at him trains the pup to think he can bite kids. Also, you are responsible if a child gets hurt even if the child caused it! I liked the corgi breeder web site that said if you want a dog that your kids can stuff corn up their nose get a Lab. Corgis are not going to allow that.
