It's been ages since I updated and plenty has gone on in our wacky lives. Many changes, some good, some bad and I am finally ready to sit down and write a long blog post about it (with lots of pictures, be warned.). But let's begin this update with the most recent and happy! Ashton's 3rd Birthday party!
Ashton is wondering when he can eat his dinner so he can get to the presents!!
- On November 17th, Ashton turned three. He celebrated by a very special treat of canned food in his red "You Are Special Today" bowl. Next he opened his birthday presents which included a Happy Birthday monkey plush toy, Angry Birds plush toy, huge bag of Charlee Bear treats and a bag of Starmark Every Flavor treats.
How long do I have to wear this silly hat? Plus, I was told there was going to be cake!
When we finished up the gifts he moved on to his Birthday "cake" which was a consumed in one bite. Needless to say, he really enjoyed his birthday.
"That was fun, tomorrow is my birthday too right?!?!!"
In memoriam: Earlier this spring our 16 year old Siamese cat Ana Ng went over the Rainbow Bridge. She passed in our home which she ruled with an iron claw. If you think of the two Siamese cats, Si and Am, in the Disney movie Lady and the Tramp, well, let's just say Ana made it look like they sugar coated how Siamese cats behave. Once we left her at our apartment alone for two days, she destroyed an entire couch! Not just torn up, but pooped/peed on too! Beyond help it went to couch heaven. She was all that and some. I'm pretty sure she allowed us to live with her because she viewed us as useful domestic pets. But we loved her anyway.
Ana Ng April 5, 1995 ~ April 17, 2011
Right before Halloween we had to make the hard decision to help our 14 1/2 year old mix breed dog Brynner over the Bridge. He had been struggling for quite some time but got to the point where he could no longer stand on his own or stay standing. We knew it was time. The day before we took him in we gave him a free day to do whatever he wanted. Eating tons of treats and a special steak cooked just for him he seemed happier than we had seen him in a long time. The day of he got a king sized Hershey's chocolate bar which he loved. With his head resting on his favorite stuffed fish he crossed over the Bridge peacefully.
Brynner March 5, 1997 ~ October 28, 2011
Rest in Peace Ana and Brynner. We will always love and remember you both. <3
In addendum: Working at a vet clinic guarantees that you will be without a pet for a limit time. One day our Fed Ex drive came in with a kitten he had found. It's left front leg was mangled (possibly fan belt) and very infected. The docs amputated his leg and he was ready to go to a forever home. You guessed it, it's our home.
I brought home this tiny kitten and realized why he lost his leg, he has NO fear at all. He just bounded around the house like he had always been here. He bonded very quickly with Ashton and now the two are BFF. We are pretty sure he thinks he is a corgi. He will sleep in Ashton's crate, FRAP around the house together, wrestle, go walkies in the backyard with Ashton and even play tug with the dog toys. For fans of the anime Cowboy Bebop you'll appreciate his name. Since the kitten took an instant liking to Ashton and part of Ashton's name is Ein, logically it only makes sense to name a kitten missing it's left front leg this name! Yup, it's Jet Black!
Ashton "Ein" and Jet along with a picture of their name sakes from the anime Cowboy Bebop.
We are also expecting a new corgi!! We knew when Ashton's breeder had another litter we would get a little sister for him. The last litter she bred was Ashton's 3 years ago and we are finally moments away from the next litter. The litter is due any time now so needless to say we are excited, nervous, happy... such a jumble of feelings. Hopefully there will be a little girl in there for us, if not, I am sure Ashton will be great with a little brother. So we are looking at the first part of January to bring our new baby home. This is worse than waiting for Christmas!!
Brag: Ashton's performance year ended with him earning his AKC Rally Excellent title, Coursing Ability title and Novice Agility title. Corgis truly can do it all! :D
Through the tears of loosing beloved pets to the excitement of future ones, this year has been filled with ups and downs. All the great times out weigh the bad ones and I wouldn't give them up for anything.

I was thinking the same thing Jane , Frankie and Carly would live it at her house!!
those animals are blessed to have you Gail.....
My dogs voted and they want to come and live at your house:) So sorry for your losses...I know how hard it is as we gave Mav our 14 year old mix and day like you gave Brynner and he passed quietly in our home with us present. Congrats on the beautiful new kitty, he is adorable!
Hope those puppies come soon!
This is why I love the MyCorgi community so much. Thank you all for all the kind comments. I miss Ana and Brynner terribly, but each day it becomes easier to remember the happy times and not be caught up in the sadness of their passing. Ashton and Jet keep us on our toes and constantly entertained. It's hard to be sad when you see a three-legged cat trying to ride on the back of a corgi in full out FRAP. lol
So sorry for your losses but love the pictures of the kitten and Ein! I lost 2 cats (both Siamese) and a sweet corgi in one year but agree that life goes on and new family members fill the spaces left in their own special ways. Happy Belated Birthday Ein, looks like you have a great family!
aww thats so heart warming! its good to hear from u but i am so sorry for your losses :( that is always tough but then again i am happy to see that u took that cute kitty into your home. and happy (late) birthday Ashton
Awesome photos!! Love the king birthday hat, I was wanting to get Lance a King Birthday hat, but never had the time to find one. Lance thought he was worthy of a Kings birthday hat instead of the silly mouse hat he wore for his birthday before and his adopted brother (Tucker) wore for Tuckers birthday this year. They both share October birthdays. We have had Tucker for 8 months so it was his first birthday we got to celebrate. :)
Sounds like Eins birthday was also fit for a king, love the picture blog!!!
I am so sorry to hear of your loses. How devastating to lose two in one year. :( The pic of Brynner, wow, how touching, he looks so sweet. Ana, how beautiful, and sounds like she had everything in control. Once again, I can't express enough how sorry I am.
Congratulations on the new kitty to your home, what a sweetie, so glad to hear that Ein and Jet bonded so well!!!
Congrats on bringing home a new corgi pup. Talk about a roller coaster of emotions this year, wow!!!
Awhh haha.. Jet is freaking adorable!:) I once saw a kitten that I wanted SOOOO badly! He had three ears! My grandma, who I lived with at the time, was of course for it too.. But she said no anyhow because my grandpa would have throwna fit xD He's a weenie dog kinda guy.
I'm sorry for your losses of Ana and Brynner.. It's always heart breaking to lose a pet:( And two in one year.. Yikes!:(
Haha Ashton looks like he had the biggest ball in the world eating his 'cake' and I'm jealous, lol! I don't even have an angry bird plushie! xD
