Hi friends :)
Shanks has had a couple of meals since my last post and he hasn't had any issues with vomiting. Things are looking good!
I need to run to the dry cleaners today but am apprehensive about both taking Shanks with me and leaving him at home by himself. The dry cleaners is just a short walk away, but he hasn't gotten all of his shots yet. I could even carry him the whole way, but that leads me to my questions--
How old was your puppy the first time you left him/her at home alone, and for how long did you do so? How old were they when you took them out for their first walk?
Shanks has had his first round of shots and will be getting his second in the next couple of weeks, followed by his last round at the beginning of March.
All your thoughts and advice are greatly appreciated!

We left our puppies home alone right away for short periods of time. I think it's good for them to get used to it a bit when they are young. We always used a crate or an xpen.
How far of a walk are we talking? He could do a few blocks and you could carry him if he gets tired. Don't take him to a dog park or anything like that, but exposing him to a lot of different people/environments right away is good for socialization.
I was off work the first week we had Foxy and then she was gated in the laundry room for about a month and then she was kenneled. She actually always seemed to like her kennel and we never had a problem with her going in it.
He is so cute! Congrats.
I have always kenneled my dogs until I know I can trust them. Walks after he has had his full schedule of shots.
Thanks Andrea! Good to know :)
I left my pup home alone pretty quickly. I kennel my dogs since it's safest for them, especially at this young age. Walks though came once all her shots were completed.
