Okay, ya'll, my stress level is through the roof right now! The pup came down with Giardia on Friday morning, and while he seems to be "better" as far as stool consitency and energy levels, he absolutely refuses to eat or drink anything! I have tried feeding him just about everything safe for dogs in my house and nada. And you can forget drinking any water, the only way that is happening is when I use a syringe to squirt it down his throat. I am frustrated and tired and don't know what to do anymore.

And to top it all off I am NOT loving my vet. He is convinced that something is inherently wrong with this dog just because he's from Puerto Rico (he actually came from a great show breeder that I very much trust) and throws in snide little comments every chance he gets. Unfortunately for me, if I want to go to a "holistic" vet, he's the only one in... well, pretty much in the state! Also, his prices are ridiculous. Seriously, I paid the same amount for Brando's visit on Friday as I did the last time I took Lyla to the Animal ER at 3 AM and had X-rays and tests done! Needless to say, I am eating Ramen from now until payday, 3 weeks from now. Serioulsy, ready to cry over this whole thing right now. If this dog doesn't eat and drink soon I don't know what I'm going to do.

Have you tried canned food watered down and heated till lukewarm? That's all my Livvy would eat for a few days after having pups...even a little tuna or something with warm water. I am so sorry for all of you having to go through this. What about floating a couple ice cubes in water. What does the vet say about him not eating?

My Oscar had a nasty case of that awful parasite a few months back. I'm so sorry your pup is going through it now. I talked to a person who once had Giardia and she said it was the worst she had ever felt stomach wise. What treatment are you using? Fingers crossed that his appetite comes back quickly. Good luck!
