I posted a blog entry last night about possibly adopting a 1yr old female Pembroke at my county's high-kill shelter. Faye and I went to go see her this morning and I fell in-love with her immediately. When they were in the social area they sniffed each other and didn't seem too interested in each other. I thought that was a good thing because usually Faye growls at other dogs (just the males, i think). When we went inside the office the new corgi, hyper and still a puppy, really, wanted to play with Faye and jumped onto her. Faye growled. That aside, it went better than I thought. No one lunged at anyone like I expected. This dog was so beautiful and actually made the corgi noises. Not shy at all--all she wanted to do was kiss and jump on everyone.

I signed the adoption papers with a huge smile on my face. She's coming home with me on Monday after I pick her up from the vet to be spayed. I'm so happy that both my corgis were rescued. Here's a picture of us (forgive my silly just-woke-up face):

Thank you all for your comments! I'm so excited and more than glad to give her a good home. Apparently, she was a stray that someone picked up. I couldn't believe someone would let her out and not even look for her. Also, I was the only one who wanted her.

@Geri & Sydney --> It was the best feeling in the world holding her and telling her everything's going to be alright from now on. I almost cried, I was so happy! I don't know what to name her yet. She's really petite, hyper & loves to kiss. I want the name to reflect that :)

@Lisa --> Congrats to you too! I'm really hoping they don't get into a lot of fights. You're an inspiration and I know now that they will eventually get along.

She is so cute, what would the world be like without people like you.

Congrats! We too recently rescued a new corgi baby and haven't had any regrets. We had a few fights and tense moments but he has settled in great. We hope your new little girl and Faye will get along as well.
