I've been trying to figure out what exactly Wrigley is for the last few months. I have had several people tell me he is just a big Corgi (and not show quality), I have had people tell me he looks like a Sheltie (I don't think so) and a few people told me he is just a poorly bred Corgi (I prefer "unique" so his feelings aren't hurt). He is about 35 lbs and seems to be about the size of a Beagle (I haven't seen him next to a Corgi yet), but much broader. I have tons of pictures of him on my page, any thoughts would be much appreciated.

I plan on eventually getting a doggie DNA test to confirm, but they are a little more than I can afford right now.

He came from the Irving, TX city shelter and they told me he is a mix, but I'm not so sure they knew much about Corgis. When I have gone to the dog park and the vet, people tell me he looks like a big Corgi, but I'm just not sure. I love him regardless of what he is, but curiosity is getting the better of me! :P

I just remembered, My little girl has floppy ears and so everyone thinks he is shelty or something. She is a pure bred corgi, she just doesn't look it from certain angles. Maybe yours is the same. Where did you get your little guy from??

ACD= Australian Cattle Dog, right? That was another possibility that came my way after I posted...

I'm thinking like Kerry and Jane, I think I see a little Border Collie there! He sure is cute. Sidney is undocked and his tail curls over his back when he's happy or excited.

Looking at all your pics, I gotta say that if someone told me he was a full Pembroke, I wouldn't think they were lying. He looks like he could be a mix. The size is fine; mine goes around 38 pounds and he's from show-quality parents. The length of coat isn't quite right, but I've seen some farm-bred Corgis that have a shorter coat.

PS Just checked your pics again and his ears are too pointed for a Cardigan. I am starting to thing that he may be all Corgi as in the comment above. Maybe he is a mix between a Pem and a Cardigan...?

I think he is 3/4 Corgi and 1/4 something that has longer legs. His markings are Corgi markings. His profile looks almost identical to my Cardigan. Are you sure he is a Pembroke? If he is broader than that fits with a Cardigan. He looks to have the white tipped tail like my Cardigan. His larger weight makes sense with a Cardigan. Mine varies between 47-53 lbs and he is a long and broad one. Maybe his something else is back another generation because he really looks like a Cardigan to me. Check out Butter's pics on My Page.

What IS your dog? Well, to me, he looks like he could be Frankie's brother! Frankie is on the far left! He's all Corgi -- also from a "unique" breeder." Believe me, with as many rescue transports as I've done the last few years, I've seen Corgis in all shapes and sizes -- just saw one this past weekend that DID look like a "Borgi," a Corgi/Beagle mix, but I was assured he was purebred Corgi -- just not bred for standards of show or future breeding quality. But, really, what does it matter? Wrigley is adorable just the way he is! The two of you love each other and that's all that matters -- oh, yeah, we love you, too!
