It's been raining pretty much every day here for the last two weeks and supposed to continue until Friday. Poor Wrigley has been cooped up inside for most of that time. We don't have a backyard and the dog park is a swamp, so those options are out even for a short run. I've taken him on a few walks (and got stuck in a monsoon once), but going outside doesn't seem to be much of an option right now. Any suggestions for indoor activities to keep Wrigley happy? We play fetch a few times a day, but he seems to get bored pretty quickly. He doesn't whine or cry, just kind of follows me around and sleeps next to me making those sad corgi eyes. :(

My three corgis love their Kongs with Cream Nut peanut butter and their new 100% natural elk antler sheds. We will actually go out in the rain when it just drizzles. We also sit on the floor and read aloud - it's so wonderful when your dogs act as though they actually enjoy the story!!!!

I know if I don't keep Morgan busy he goes nuts. Do you have a kong or a bone you can hide peanut butter in? That can keep a dog busy for hours if they are interested in it.... and food is very interesting. If you are not busy you can also play 'chase me' games. Miranda loves those on a rainy day. You run, they chase, all in all a fun time.

Rainy days are perfect for training! Catch, fetch, tug, you name it! If he likes to play tug teach him to release the toy on command. If he likes to play fetch, but won't give up the toy upon retrieving it, teach him to drop it or give it to you. You could also teach him "stay" and see how long he can do it/
I like to tease Shiro with a long band for him to get it. He's out cold after 10 minutes of jumping around.

Do you have a long hallway? We open our bedroom door and throw a soft cushy ball that she brings back. Helps burn off some of that energy and she is always so pleased when she can beat the ball to the end of the hall to catch it and bring back. We also are teaching her to play catch so we mix it up when we are playing. Also we have a covered patio and bounce a tennis ball off the wall for her to go after (it is such fun being an adult) every time we play this I can hear my mothers voice telling me to stop bouncing the ball off the wall LOL.

Yes we are experiencing the MN Monsoons right now....I also have gotten out the cow hooves to chew on for a few hours then pick them up for the next day but this does occupy their time.

Can Wrigley play catch? We taught Sparty using a tennis ball and tossing it gently right to him so he could catch it. It is his favorite game and he can catch it from quite a distance. It is just a little variance on fetch. Also a soccer ball in the house can be fun. When our weather is exceptionally cold for days in the winter we go on field trips to Petsmart and another locally owned pet supply store. It is not much excersise but it is stimulating and the dogs love it.
