My 6 month old Corgi, Chase, has a serious issue with the windshield wipers...

One (rainy) day while going to the vet for a check up, my fiance and I discovered that Chase hates the wind shield wipers. He barked and barked at them while following them back a forth with his head.
At first it was a little funny. I took a video of it and then made Chase quiet down. All was well.
THEN days or weeks later, my fiance thought it would be funny to turn the windshield wipers on and watch Chase bark at them again. He harassed Chase with the wipers.
Now anytime we need to use the windshield wipers while Chase is with us it is a constant battle. Chase still barks at the wipers, but now he is afraid of them. He cries in between swipes and barks the ENTIRE time. He FREAKS out. I feel so bad for him. I used to be able to get him to stop and he would just go about his business but since my fiance harassed him he has become terrified.
My poor baby. =/
I am not sure what to do about the problem! I have never experienced this before so I am not sure how to fix/correct it. We are making a big move from Pennsylvania to Florida at the end of the month and if it rains Chase will lose it. Help!

My Corgi too has an issue with the wipers, which I forget about till I turn them on and he sails into the front and snaps at the windows! It is rather funny and crazy but can be dangerous. He also, had issues with the vacuum, broom, rake, and shovel! If you have ever watched Cesar Milan he works with a lot of herding type dogs having fixations on repetitive things like that. The key is to get what ever it is out and dont let them fixate on them. Cesar does a touch grab on their shoulders accompanied by a sound or no or whatever to redirect them. Its going to be a process cause hes use to doing it and is in a frantic mind set. Take your time and keep at it!! Corky knows now and will start but then just a correction or two and he will quit.

I can think of 2 things:

First, get him in the car in a calm state. hold a treat in front of his nose and turn on the wipers (this may require chicken or whatever his favorite thing is) and if he ignores them, he gets the treat.  Start out with just 1 swipe and build up his tolerance to more swipes. Hopefully he will learn ignoring the wipers is a good thing.

Two: For a quick fix (you need to take him somewhere, but have no time for desensitizing) you could crate him with a plastic crate so he can't see the wipers, and still do the treat thing for being a good passenger.
