My desk was setup in such away that everyone could sleep under my desk, and when they want to go outside they just go out the back door to the yard.

They always seem to understand what death is at that point. Dogs do mourn. My in-laws two red heelers still sleep with the blanket that their mom used and she has been gone for four years.
