Cookie not only needs her ACL fixed, but she has a torn meniscus, too, so surgery is highly recommended and the surgeon we saw was a sweet doctor who calmed our fear for a difficult recovery process. Thanks to all of the support we have had.

What does CCL stand for? Cookie has been sick this weekend with upper respiratory infection, so she hasn't been feeling good. Sleeping a lot...

Cast? No cast. Why did they cast her? No, Jake's is fully uncovered. That way we can do the daily exercises with him on the leg and he can walk freely on it. It's been almost a week and he seems to be doing great. It's been super hot her this past weekend (85) so on his 5 min walks, he gets really tired. For 2 weeks we have to do exercises 3 times a day. That way the knee, hip, ankle and foot does not get tight. His next appt is May 12th for suture removal (he has staples) and for his first PT session. Thanks for checking on Jakey!

Jill-How is your dog doing? When does the cast come off? If your dog starts chewing on the cast, you need a buster collar for him. Our surgeon took the cast off after 1 week, which was good, because last year, she waited for 2 weeks, and Cookie started chewing on it, removed a couple of stitches and the cast smelled bad!

Judi - Hi! I'm going through the same thing as we speak with my Corgi, Jake. He just had surgery this Tuesday. He had a complete ruptured CCL and had to have his meniscus removed. I can't believe my surgeon said it's so rare for Corgi's to have CCL and I see so many people on this site who's dogs had it done!

Good luck with everything and if you need support, I'm here!

Hi Judi,
Hope the surgery went well. Where was it performed? We are in Highland Park, but am thinking you didn't see any of the specialists here since you live in Woodridge. Keep us posted.

Hi Judi,
I'm so glad the doctor was very helpful, and also that the situation seems a bit brighter. You, Cookie and your family have been in my prayers and thoughts.
Never hesitate to email or post for support etc.
I've heard the surgery has a great success rate, especially for a young dog like Cookie.
I'll be continuing to keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.
