Our little Murphy had one of the biggest and most important vet appointments of his life on Friday. We really didn't want him to have to stay overnight, but they wanted him to so what choice did we have and we also wanted to be sure that he would return to us with a clean bill of health. We missed him so much, it was weird not having him around for one night. I'm so used to him being right at my feet all the time. We brought him home and he was back to his usual tricks. Chasing Stella and running around the house. He must have missed home or wanted to make sure nothing around here has changed, he kept walking around into different rooms as if he was taking a tour or something. His stitches are healing up nicely, once in awhile I'll catch him licking it and I'll have to growl at him, but he's been doing really well with leaving it alone for the most part. He weighs about 15 lbs. now and last time he was there he weighed about 11. I'm glad to see that he's gaining weight and growing. Sometimes I worry that he's not eating enough. He goes back to the vet next Saturday for a follow up to see how he's healing up and then he won't have to be back until April. :o) Chris and I just started planting grass since we got a retaining wall put in and a new driveway. It was hysterical to watch Murphy trying to chase the seed spreader...until he broke free from his collar three times. Right now, we have a small metal pipe hammered into the ground that we attach Murphy to until next year when we can afford to get a fence put in. He kept trying to run after and attack the seed spreader, he must have a lot of muscular force because his collar couldn't handle his strength and it snapped right off. He didn't break it, but I'm not really sure how it came off the way it did. He is officially too big for the old collar so this one is our only option now unless we buy him a new one. I want to see if it'll happen again before doing that. He's been such a good boy and we love him more and more everyday. I can't believe he'll be 6 months next week. He's growing fast. He's been sleeping on the floor lately instead of on our bed where he usually sleeps. We think he gets too hot up there. I hope that's the only reason. Even though sometimes when he sleeps with us it can get a little crowded, I can't help, but really miss the sense of not being able to move when he's sleeping right down by my legs and feet.

You're probably right and he's definitely at that adolescent stage right now, seems like lately he's been testing our patience haha.

Bear is the same way - sometimes a snuggler and sometimes more independent. I like to think that it's just part of who he is at this phase - an adolescent, still wants to be cuddled but also wants to make sure that we know he's cool enough to be alone :)
