Has anyone got any tips on the best way to gently insert our new 10 week old puppy,Charlie Tuna, into our family so that our older dog ,Lily Rose, who is 1 and 1/2, is okay with the addition of her little bro? When we brought home our previous girl, Chloe Rose, she had a heart condition, so, after her surgery, I needed to sit with her in a puppy enclosure for 8 weeks while she healed and had to be kept quiet. Our other dog,Mr. Fish, was around 2 years old at this time. Because of this situation, their introduction to each other and subsequent interaction was very proscribed and limited by the circumstances. So, I don't have much experience in introducing a healthy puppy into a family with a somewhat older dog. Also, I'm not sure when Lily and Charlie might be able to be left alone together. Obviously, this will vary with each pair of dogs, but I'm just wondering if any of you have any general ideas about this. I want to make sure that they both are happy and comfortable with each other.
