Hi Everyone!

I was wondering if anyone was interested in planning or wanted to throw ideas out for this years corgi picnic.  It's been awhile since Carter has seen anyone of you guys and I know he misses his corgi buddies =D

~~Please send some love to Christina.  She planned last years picnic and is unable to continue to plan due to health issues.~~

Here are some of the ideas that have been thrown out there

- Freeport (Freeport Doggie Website) is where we had it last year.  We could do the same thing last time and do like a potluck type thing.  I don't know if Mike & Lisa wanted to plan it again.

Wasn't sure if you guys wanted to go to the same place.  I found a dog park in Hoffman Estates (Bo's Dog Park).  I've never been there but the park looks nice.  I'm not sure if they have day passes though and if they would let us have the picnic there.

Just trying to throw ideas out there. Let me know what you guys think or if you want to plan it =D

Hope to see everyone and their corgi's soon!

I think having it at a place that does not require a membership and allows picnic stuff would be the best idea :)  I really do not know of any place that does besides Freeport.  Mike & Lisa, did you have to reserve that section of the park for us last time? or did we just get lucky that no one else showed up?

And when would be a good time for everyone?  I would think either having it soon or in September would be best.. so we avoid the super hot part of the summer :)  I have the first weekend of June and the afternoon of the 18th free.. and maybe the 25th..  And then I don't think I have anything planned yet for September..

I asked about Bo's dog park and found out that they do offer day passes, we just have to show that our corgi's are all up to date on shots.  I'm gonna try calling them sometime this week to see if they would be ok with us having the picnic there.

I really enjoyed going to the Freeport dog park =D and I definitely would love to go there again.

I think having it in September is a great idea.  It would be nice to have it during the summer but the pup's might get to hot.  We've already had some hot days and it's not officially summer yet.  We also have a TON of weddings to go to the summer and I think the soonest we could be free is August.

well honestly i asked if we could use that section of the park and they lets us have it
im just hoping that the pond will be up and running this time around so we can have a corgi swimming hole

Hey there! My name is Lauren and my baby is Bonnie and I'm new to this group and I am very interested in a meetup! To see all the corgi's in one place is just awesome.

I also think September would be better because it wont be too hot. Bonnie just detests hotness.

I actually live in Cook County and I'm pretty close to where I think that Bo's is. I'm very familiar with Higgins. Do any of you live around the Bo's dog park? If not I might be able to take a gander at it and see how it is and get information for you guys. Also if its anything like the OTHER Hoffman estates dog park, I know what the form looks like and you do need proof of certain shots like kennel cough, heartworm etc. Its been a while so I don't know EXACTLY.

Also - my 91 year old grandmother is in love with the breed since I brought my corgi home 4 years ago. I'd like some information on how Freeport (if thats where this will be) is accessable to a wheelchair or if there are steep hills. She would be so ecstatic to attend a meetup. Any information on last year for the newbie would be SO appreciated. Thank you!

Hi!

The freeport dog park doesn't have any steep hills. It's pretty much all flat so I think she would be able to come!

Also, I just haven't found time to go to Bo's dog park. I'm in summer school and I live about a half hour away. I know they don't have a water area like freeport's dog park does.

Okay thanks! My corgi hates water so lol. But I'd love to watch a bunch go swimming!

And thank you for the info about the terrain. My grandmother is going to just love it.

Since we decided to have in in September, are there any specific dates anyone prefers? A Saturday vs. a Sunday?

September does sound good.  Does anyone know how Christine is doing?

September sounds good to me and Izzie!  A sunday would be best. Maybe the 18th or the 11th>  What do you guys think?
Is that park Bo in hoffman estates. I don't know where everyone lives, but i live out in Manhattan.  Hoffman estates is about an hour from me and i think freeport is 3 to 4 hrs from here. I will have to look it up.
Any new news about this happening?  Bo's would be close for Izzie and I.  (We are in Carol Stream)
