Not Corgies but beautiful little pups none-the-less.  These little girls and one guy were a real surprise.  They are the result of picking up a starving looking little stray on the street and an unsuccesful attempt to finding her origianal owners.  She was just skin and bone when we found her so we brought her home and fed and bathed her and then called the number on her tag only to find it was disconnected.  We then called the Vet's number only to be told that she had once belonged to a breeder who had gone out of business and could not be reached.  So we posted adds on Craigslist and put up signs and waited weeks for her owners but none showed up and Tammey is just bonding with this little thing like she is her long lost sister.

Anyway,  as I am getting ready to head down to Houston, to donate platelets for my brother and spend the week to help take care of him, I notice that not only is Tex (that's what we named her) putting on wieght, but her breast are enlarged!  "Hmmm", I say to Tammey maybe you should take her back to the Vet. (We've already had her checked out for a chip and gotten all of her shots.) and see if she is pregnant.  Tammey insisted that there is no way that she could be pregnant but just can't pass up the chance to spend even more money on this little stray. So, off she goes to the vet who confirms my thought and says in two to four weeks you'll have puppies.  Tammey is just thrilled!  But because of her small size (under 10LBS) and not knowing who the daddy is you'll need to bring her back for a C-section "$450.00".  So, as Tammey is telling me all of this and making plans for caring for puppies and buying crates and puppy food and baby clothes and a play pen and..... I am just tearing up.  So, I head down to Houston trying desperatly to come up with plan for finding this dogs real home and two hundred and fifty miles and one speeding ticket later I am just drawing blanks.

After dealing with the vampires at M.D. Anderson and taking my brother out to dinner we are setting back discussing plots for getting rid of stray dogs when the phone rings.  It's Tammey and she is holding a brand new healthy puppy!  Thank God I have been spared another Vet bill, for now!  That was the first of five phone calls, each with a detailed discription of how Tammey lovingly broke open water sacks and pulled the film off of the babys faces and what this one should be named and ...... Who doesn't love puppies even if they are not corgies!

It sounds like Tex has had a rough life. But thanks to you, those pups have been saved from the same kinds of abuse and neglect. They'll have the chance Tex didn't have, and it sounds like Tex will be having a better life from now on. So hats off to you guys! (Oh, and puppies are cute, too.)

They are so adorable! We currently have a stray mom cat and 5 little kittens living in our backyard. I don't know why she chose our yard since we have a dog, but she doesn't seem to mind us. Enjoy your newest members.

Tammey's Mom and Dad have laid claim to the little boy (Rascal).  He is the one on the top and left of the picture.  Our wonderful neighbor Shelly who watches our dogs for us (except for Bear who always goes where I go) wants the little brindal one.  My son wants us to try to get Tammey's parents to take a girl so he can have the boy but the last time he was here he held the little girl pictured on her back the whole time he was here.  Tammey also has a special bond with the little girl because she was born fully inclosed in the water sack so Tammey had to break open the bag and give it mouth to mouth (to hear her tell it) to get it breathing. LOL  Thanks Jane you always say the nicest things!

Tex by the way is an affenpinscher, Tammey thinks the puppies are also affenpinschers because she came from a breeder, the puppies are small and look just like mama and because of her emacited state when found her,  we think Tex came from a puppy mill.
