Whole dog journal has a website that you can go to or ask your doctor and he can tell you the areas of the country that are affected the most. WWW.whole-dog-journal.com
Hi steve, no need to panic, it is isolated in the Mississippi River Valley. The effectiveness of heartworm preventive products vary based on if your dog starts treatment heartworm negative or heartworm positive and that each product has different benefits and risks associated with it. Where you live can also alter the effectiveness. Discuss your heartworm treatment options with your vet to find the best choice for you and your dog. Here's a American Heartworm Society's statement and a DVM's opinion.
Thanks Sam for the up to date info.
