whenever we put something into the back yard my puppy stands and growls at it and wont come inside or go near it and if we bring the object towards her she freaks out and barks like crazy, she has done it with everything from our BBQ to a new lawn mower to my bf putting his hard hat on the fence post, after a couple hours or even a couple days she will go near it but i find this extremely odd..does anyone elses dog do this? or is she just a little weird haha

Most pups go through a second fear-imprint period between 6-9 months old, but this period can start at 5 months and go through 14 months. An irrational fear of normal objects at this age should be dealt with carefully. You do not want to force her to confront the object. Neither do you want to try to pet and console her while she is afraid. Just act like everything is happy and normal and ignore her fear. If she does approach the object on her own, she can get a "Good Girl!".
That's so cute. haha...
Kitty is still tweaked out over new things in her turf and in the house. She is a little over a year old. She catches reflections in the windows and comes ungluded barking.I was cleaning a closet yesterday and rolled a large exercise ball down the hallway, you should have seen her-she just knew that ball was after her! She looked like she had 16 little legs peddling her down the hall as fast as she could go,barking all the way.It was really funny!
This display of behaviors is typical for a dog that lacks confidence. I think more environmental socialization would help you greatly. Finding a training class in your area would give you a great outlet to achieve this. Being around confident dogs also seems to be most helpful. Any chance you have some good pals with a friendly and confident dog that can have play dates with your pup? Sometimes too if you approach the object and show it great and positive attentions your dog will come and investigate.
we always do go up to it ahaha she still freaks out, as for dogs we socialize alot on our walk to work (we go through a dog park) but we have been talking about taking her to a agility class (they told me they have a smaller course for dogs who can hurt themselves while jumping and she wouldnt be allowed to do alot) but i still think it would be fun.
