Hey guys! Do you have tips for dogs in the snow?
How about young puppies? Fluffy puppies?
Ein is loving playing in the snow, but I've only been going out with him for a short amount at a time because I'm not sure how much snow & cold he can handle safely. Should he be wearing a little sweater?
Thanks!

Hi Stacy, here you go :)
We have had snow since Sunday, a very rare occurance here in the Pacific Northwest, and Noods is having a blast. I have to call him in to come to bed and we no sooner walk in the front door from our jog, when he walks over to the sliding door to play in the backyard. It isn't cold at all here, so I'm not worried about him getting cold. He sure is having fun! Noodles favorite snow activity is licking the snow and catching snowballs in the air. He currently is in heaven right now seeing everything covered.
Yea for Noodles. Bring the snow here.
I used a simple coat on Luke when he was a puppy when it got really cold, but mainly because he had almost no undercoat. I only used it if we were going to be outside for say, 30 minutes or more for play time or at the dog park.
How cute is your little guy?! I live in Iowa, and the dogs usually let me know when they are ready to come in. They come to the back door. I do have to watch Jackson though, his feet seem to get colder than the rest of him, and sometimes it gets too cold for him and he can't walk so I have to go get him..
I live at 9,000 ft. My dog has loved snow since his first one. Even when it snows in May & everyone is sick of it - Bugsy can't wait!! We have 2 walks a day - no matter what. He doesn't own a sweater or jacket. he stays plenty warm! I rub some Musher's Secret on his paws to keep snow from balling in them. when it gets 20 below or more then we stick to the sidewalks & he might wear booties. I add cod liver oil & salmon oil to his meals & his coat is thick & luxurious. If he plays with other dogs & gets a good romp, then he gets too warm & just lays in the snow after a good tunneling & roll. He likes to take his bones outside to chew on - no matter the temp. Last year I swear he made his own snow fort...
Your pup is too freakin adorable!!! (he doesn't need a sweater - he has one already! :-)
Hi Amy and Rubi, yes, but you need to use a pair of scissors to trim his paw pad fur first. Apply Musher's secret between the paw pads and on top. Avoid walking your dog in wet snow slushy salty surface, have a wet towel near the door, wipe them when you come in, make sure you dog don't lick the paws, some of the non pet friendly deicers / melters can irritate the skin.
Ein? like Cowboy BeBop? Cute :)
That's great! :) PArt of the reason we got a corgi! (data dog). Ours is named after a character too! From Final Fantasy 9. Hahaha
Your little boy is precious. I have a fluffy boy also but he is big now. Enjoy your sweet baby.
