Our dog Ein, who is about 5 months old, has stopped walking on his leash. We were doing pretty good the first week we had him. Then he started pulling, so our trainer suggested a harness, which Ein didn't like. I took him out for one walk with the harness with barely any problems. The second time, he just layed on the grass and wouldn't move. When I would get to his level to coax him, I'd praise him and then keep going. The third time he wouldn't move, so, I switched back to his collar. But, all he will do is lay down. I've been trying to walk him in the morning before I go to work, otherwise he is alone until my husband comes home for lunch. Any ideas on how to get him walking again? Even treats don't seem to be enough to coax him to move. He will only move if I head towards the house.

neeka did this, but she was alot younger (10 weeks old) sometimes she still does because of the heat. he maybe nervous about going places. i found that tying the leash to my belt loop works alot better...im not sure why but on hot/rainy days when i know she is going to try and lie down and not walk any further i do that and she walks fine...
The harness works great for us. Range tends to wanna lead all the time, I think it's because I let him go without a leash and he's good about not wondering too far (5-10ft away from me) and just doing his business, but still has an eye on me. So when I put him on a leash, he trips out and wants to lead. But when I keep a short leash and tug on it (just enough to get his attention) when he pulls, he get's the point and walks besides me. It's sometimes a battle, but you can't let them win. Usually in a couple minutes of the battle, he just relaxes and focuses on the walk, rather then trying to lead me.

The only time I had a problem with his not wanting to walk is when its hot and he's exhausted. hehehe!
