Corgi Crate Questions

let me preface this by saying that a.) I apologize but b.) I AM FULL OF PUPPY MADNESS. So, you know, sorry!

But, our crate arrived today and it seems HUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE. Like mega ultra huge and I could probably squeeze into one of the halves.

and I do not know why mycorgi.com is messing up the rotation of this image, but whatever.

The dimensions are: 32 x 22.5 x 24 inches

And now I'm wondering do we return it, get a smaller crate in the interim? Or something?

Also: PUPPY MADNESS!!!

(countdown stands at 28 days)

I found that using a crate that was only big enough for Ellie to stand up and turn around in, and lay in comfortably, worked best as far as housebreaking was concerned. You could always keep that crate for when your pup gets bigger and get a small one in the meantime. Ellie's puppy crate was actually a cat crate, if that helps.

You could get a smaller crate or a divider to use in this crate while the pup is small. Then as it grows the divider comes out! But you definitely want a smaller sleeping space for potty training or it is easy for the pup to poop/pee in a portion of the crate they don't see as their bed.

That's what I was worried about. I think we're going to look at smaller crates this weekend. Plus, I need something for transporting in the car (picking him up, going to the vet, etc.) so definitely.

And you know, having freakouts because we have a crate! we have puppy things!!! full on puppy crazies.

Heh. I understand that! Look at a canvas collapsable crate for the car. Don't use it inside because it will get puppy chewed (if your is like mine!). But it rocks for the car. If I am visiting friends without puppy safe places I can just easily bring in her crate and keep her safe. I got mine from amazon - I think it is called puppy nation.
