Our 7 week old Pembroke Jase (JJ) is chewing on EVERYTHING; and I do mean everything. He chews on his toys, and he chews on shoes, chair legs, table legs, laundry baskets, bags... even found him attempting to chew on the bricks around our fireplace. 0_o

I know it is due to the fact that his teeth are still coming in, and he's chewing to soothe the soreness. So,I bought him several of the Nylabone brand chew toys designs for puppies, even ones that are flavored, and he'll chew on them momentarily and go back to something else he isn't allowed to chew on.My question is what chew-stoping aids has anyone used that have been successful? Also, how do I get him to actually chew on his toys?

I remember going through this with our previous Corgi but not until 6mos when she was getting her adult teeth. I'd really like to get him in the habit of chewing on his toys before his adult teeth come in and he really starts to destroy things. Help!!

.LOL. I just spent the morning repairing a chewed hole in the exterior house siding on our "puppy proofed" patio. We are going to hire Sky out as a home inspector for dry rot...he zeroed right in on it.

JJ is a boy....

We are being very firm and vigilant on letting him know what he is/isn't allowed to chew on and making sure to give him a toy when we find him chewing on something he isn't supposed to. We have been saying "No" so much these past few days.... and "Ow" really loud when he snips at my feet or gets a hold of my finger when we're playing. He jumps back at the sound and turns his head so hopefully he'll be making the connection that when he bites us, even accidentally, it hurts and he shouldn't do it.

It took Ellie awhile to realize what her toys were for.  When I first got her, she only wanted to chew on wires and furniture.  Once she figured out that toys are so much more fun, she stopped chewing on everything she shouldn't.  Even when she was teething I didn't have a problem, and she's a destructive chewer.  I made a huge deal out of praising her for playing with her toys, and she caught on pretty quickly.

The key might be figuring out which toys JJ likes best.  Ellie hates balls (she's even wary of the treat-dispensing balls unless she sees the food going in) and dislikes rubber toys, but anything cloth will keep her entertained for hours.  Rawhide helped a lot, but she gobbled that down, so I switched to antlers which are even better because they last.
