I'm contemplating getting a second Corgi.  My current Corgi has been an only dog for 5 years.  I'm concerened he might not like having a new addition.  Anyone out there had any experience with this?

My oldest Rigby had been an only dog for 2 years when we got Ethel. The breeder told me to get a boy because they would get along better but I wanted 2 girls. I still can't tell if Rigby likes her new sister or not. We have had Ethel since October and Rigby is pretty jealous and wants a lot more attention. They fight over allll the toys as well. I'm assuming this will get better once Ethel is not a puppy! Every dog is different though...

Is he well-socialized?   Does he like other dogs?  Is he well-trained?  Every dog is different and some love having a roommate, while others would rather be an only dog.   You also have to look at your own situation.  Could you deal with having two dogs who can't be trusted alone together?  Could your schedule handle having one sick dog who needs care and one well dog who needs exercise?  Are you confident enough to break up a scuffle if one occurs?

There is a good post in the FAQ about adding a second dog.

Here's the link to the FAQ post about getting a 2nd corgi - http://mycorgi.com/profiles/blogs/should-i-get-another-corgi

The main thing is to get a dog who's personality compliments that of your current dogs personality.  If you are unsure about doing this yourself, don't hesitate to ask for help from a professional (like breeders, vets, trainers, etc).
