Have you ever looked at your pup and thought, wow, she/he is really long. I do. LOL. She is only 8 months, and about 2 months ago she started growing longer. For a while I thought she was growing long and then would fill out and not look so long. But I don’t think so anymore. She just seems longer than other corgis, even compared to full grown corgs. And, other people mention it too – all the time. I’ve looked at the breed standards (Pembroke) and she seems ok by that. She is from a reputable breeder and both her parents have national and international titles. I wonder if conformation breeders are going for a ‘longer dog’? Doing a little research, I dug up some articles on the internet that said that ‘the old style’ of corgi was smaller and not as long. Is anybody familiar with ‘the old style’ versus ‘the new style’ of corgi? I’m just curious. It doesn’t really matter to me what she looks like. About two seconds after I got her she could have grown a third eye and a purple nose and I would still love her to pieces. Anyway, I was just curious if there are really different styles of corgis. I know there are in labradors, for example, so maybe there are in corgis too?

Franklin was a loooooooong corgi too! He has filled out but he was probably close to 2 years old before really starting to look more like a normal corgi. He was actually longer than my bosses standard dachshund! Although he is taller than your typical corgi and more slender he doesn't look weirdly long anymore lol
My own pem is "cobby", or shorter in length than a pem should be. My cardi on the other hand...we called him a pool noodle on stilts for a long time, lol. He was kind of an ungainly looking puppy, haha.
Your girl will probably fill out more as she gets older and look more normal. But I do think dogs from show breeders tend to be longer than one from say, a farm or a hobby breeder.
