Yogi is shedding like crazy. It got worse late Aug to present. We just touch him or he shakes and theres fur all over.
We got the furminator but I'm not sure I'm using it right.
It seems to be taking lots of the fur off, but the fur never seems to reduce in quantity. It's like if I keep going at it seems like he'll be bald by the time I'm done. Is this how it works? Or must you start seeing less fur overtime? It's scary to use.
He's 6months and the vet said he's in the process of losing his puppy fur. The shedding's a bit annoying esp when he has to go in my car or when he rubs again my black pants b4 work lol
Any suggestions on how to use the furminator ? I'm about to buy Shed Stop, any thoughts ?

Black pants? You have to lose anything black asap. It sounds like your using the furminator correctly - I have often wondered why Charlie isn't bald from all the shedding. Nobody clues you in about the giant handfuls of loose fur - they just shed like no other dog I have ever had. You just have to learn to adapt and buy a good vacuum, a lint brush in every room and take the black off as soon as you get home. Oh the joys of being owned by a corgi! Let us know if the shed stop makes any difference and happy furminating!
it is fine, your initial furmination will result in lots of hair, after that you can furminate once a week for maintenance and you'll find less hair around the house. keep up the good work!
i got so much hair the pile was higher then neeka when i first furminated her. i decided to only do it once a month, (i was wrong after about a week she was shedding like crazy again) so now i furminate once a week and brush her lightly everyday. she hardly sheds. i also have a mini vaccume in all the main rooms (living room, bedroom, den ect) and i have lint rollers by the front door and in my truck. its the only way to live when you have to wear black pants!
not sure if this would help the shedding but i got him some fish oil packed with omega 3 fatty acids. i heard it helps the skin and coat esp for dryness.

my niece gave him a hug today and the poor kid was covered in fur all over. its really bad, ive never seen a dog shed so much.
I agree, it seems that Molly has begun to shed more in the last few weeks as well. I try to brush her every other day with the furminator and it still seems that she has more hair to loose. Winter is soon, so it should slow up here shortly....I hope.
is this a bad question but what is the furminator? it sounds like it really works.
It is a great tool used to remove the loose hair from your dog's coat/undercoat. It is by far the best that I have ever used. Here is information on it: http://www.furminator.com/

If you decide to buy one (which I recommend), you can purchase it through this site. The price is actually much cheaper than I have seen in stores and even on the net, and it helps this website: http://astore.amazon.com/mycorgicom-20/detail/B000JKM0LI/002-615693...
i love the furminater and cody does too! he seems lighter when we use it on him about once every 2 weeks :D
Has anyone tried the shampoo or conditioner?
I thought I too was going to brush my big dog bald when I first got the furminator. But I now brush him twice a week and occassionally in between if it looks like it is getting bad. As you use it more often there will come a time when the fur will start to come out in less giant gobs *until his next shedding season. Corgi's shed twice a year, once in spring for their summer coat, and once before winter.* Corgi's are big shedders and I just bought the best investment I've made since the Corgi himself. A Bissel Vacuum. Fredmeyer happened to have them on sale. A good Vacuum and the Furminator are about your best friends when it comes to having a fuzzy pet ^^
Puppy fur is the worst. It gets caught in your eyelashes, tickles your nose and can cause you to cough up a furball. The furminator is good and your using it properly but becareful your not making him sore. It also can seem like you getting more then really you are unless you blow him off w/a blower. Alot of what your gettting is left over from the initial strokes. Also..the furminator can cause damage to the perminent coat. I would give him a real good grooming and then bathe him and blow dry him and as you blow dry brush him w/a slicker. As your doing this look over his skin for any irritations. This will decrease the amt of lost hair greatly. Whenever it is high shed time I groom, bathe, blow dry and groom again. This will help greatly.
I got Caleb towards the end of his "shedding his undercoat" phase (CHUNKS of fluff were sticking out at odd angles, it was unlike anything I'd ever seen and I had a German Shepherd who could bury you under a mountain of hair if you stood in one place for too long). I bought the furminator and furminated the poor guy until neither one of us could stand it - and it got a lot of the hair, but not enough. I talked to a friend who works at a groomer so I brought him in and the groomer took one look at him and said: OK, when you get him back, he's going to look skinnier - he's got A LOT of undercoat that needs to be blown out! I came back at the end of the day, and he did look skinnier, but it virtually solved his shedding problems. Now he goes to the groomers regularly and I follow up at home with a brush in between trips. I also have a very nice vacuum that Caleb hasn't clogged up yet.
