Christmas and the corgi..
I'm curious how to handle Owen's first Christmas. He will be 7 months. Basically anything that is at Owen's level is in his mouth and then chewed on floor. This has applied mainly to socks, shoes, baskets, individual pieces of paper, my feet, and the occasional furniture pad (to protect wood floors) so I'm not sure how he will handle the tree (fake due to allergies), ornaments, or stockings. We have thought about elevating the tree but are there any suggestions.

Max will be 4 mo old at Christmas. I'm thinking of a table top model although he is not allowed downstairs, thats kitty territory.

Our dogs weren't too bad with the tree. Keep your glass up higher on the tree. They will knock them down. Actually thinking about it just decorate the top half!! HA!HA!

I have been wondering the same thing, this will be KC and Levi's first Christmas, they will be 10 and 8 months respectively. We also have a fake tree. We always set ours up after Thanksgiving so I guess next week we will see.

Maizy will be 8 months and she chews on everything too! I'm thinking of not putting a tree out at all. Just earlier, she was playing with an ornament that I had taken out of the box, and had chewed it in two. I'm thinking I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Welllll.. I have some experiece with this issue JR was 5 months the first Christmas that we had him.. The lower half of the tree with the exception of lights was bare. I had my tree on a revolving tree stand that year. I actually snuck from the bedroom one morning to see him patiently waiting for the tree to come around to get his favorite tree ornament, a small shoe. When he saw it he promptly jumped up and plucked it off. They really do have brains. I had also bought some of my friends some of the packet sachets..he undoubly liked the smell because unsupervised he broke into the packages then chewed the packets open.... my housesitter found him rolling in the smell goodie. He smelled very good for a couple of days! Still don't trust him with anything that has a nice fragrance.

Okay, this doesn't give you any answers to your question but it made me think of Jinksy's (rainbow bridge) first Christmas. We went over to a friends house where they have an elaborate gift opening ritual. Someone goes to the tree picks out one present- brings it to the person to open- then they open it and pass the gift around so everyone can see the gift. Needless to say Christmas normally lasts several days (if not weeks) with this family.
Well, there were gifts under the tree for Jinksy, for their dog Shilo and for the cat, Fred. Jinks sat and watched the events for a couple of rounds and then he went to the tree, sniffed the packages picked one up in his mouth and "handed" it to me. I opened it. It was a pack of dried sardines for the cat.
He got the sardines.

We've already put up our nice fake tree. Bailey is 10 months old. He pretty much ignores it!!! I even bought a 2 foot tree the beginning of this year (for the cubicle @ work..), but ended up putting it up for him near his doggie house I built. Well, he ignores that too!!!. He sniffed it when I first brought it out, but as of now, I think he's actually quite wary of the tree. =) But if his favorite squeaky ball goes under there, he has no problem tiptoe-ing around it to get his ball.
We've elevated our tree just so that we can get some extra height out of it (bascially stood it up on a sturdy apple box and duck taped the stand/tree and then covered the box with a skirt. I was thinking... if your putting the tree in a corner, it wouldnt be a bad idea to get some kind of barrier around the tree.
Maybe Owen needs some long lasting yummy treats in his stocking this year… perhaps a bully stick??

Atlas will be in his crate christmas morning!
He loves stealing things, and I don't think my parents really feel like chasing the corgi who just stole my dad's new pairs of socks.
Yesterday I just saturated the lower portions of my girlfriend's christmas tree with bitter barrier. Something about those plastic pine needles are too much for Atlas, and his new sister to ignore.

That really sounds like our life... Owen finds socks I had no idea were on the ground. My husband wants to get him something to chew on that will last a few hours (at least)
