Is Pedipaws the same product as the Peticure? Has anyone tried the Peticure?

Several of my clients purchased the PetiCure/PediPaws tools. All have returned them. They said they were flimsy and had difficulty getting their dogs to hold still to put their claws in the holes. I agree that filing is the way to go for dog's nails. And you can go to PetSmart or other dog supply places and buy professional tools. But, the best, in my opinion, is to go to Lowe's or Wal-Mart and buy a Dremel tool (the ones that are rechargeable are easier to manipulate) and the little sanding drums to go with them. They work very well.

yeah, i read how those things were basically a weak dremel tool with a hole for dog nails...so i bought a cordless dremel tool from wal-mart.

I charged it up and was ready to go. bunni wasn't having it. she didn't know what was vibrating her toes. my gf and i will need to double team poor bunni.

oh well, at least my nails look good now.

Instead of immediately using them on your pup. Let your pup sit with you and have the Dremel run on low, no sanding drums. Let them sniff it out and get used to the vibration. And don't coddle them if they get freaky. Doing that will only make them afraid of it and reinforce the fear behavior. Go slowly. Even take just one nail a day or so if that's what it takes. Eventually, they do get used to the vibration and the noise.

I just got one of these for Johnny, our male corgi, as his nails are out of control. However, he's a litle freaked out by the noise. The instructions say to give your dog treats when you turn it on so that he/she gets used to it. I'l love to be able to actually use it, but for now, we're still working our way up to it-

I saw the Pedicure on TV, and after visiting the site and seeing that they also sold just the head attachment and fine grade sandpaper grinding heads, I just ordered that and a bag of 20 replacement heads. I go through only 2 sittings for all four feet before I either have to take off the head and flip it around (seems to wear on one half of the paper) or simply replace it. I need to research the price difference between the packs sold online and going to the hardware section and buying a pack of replacement sanding heads.

Also, if you're going to use the Dremel, it's suggested that you use the absolute lowest speed setting. I like the Dremel because it runs off of electricity and don't have to worry about batteries, and it'll always be at a consistent power and speed.

My sister's corgi would not sit for her nails. She was accidentally clipped in the quik, and was fearful of clippers. A few days of getting her used to the Dremel and she's better about it. We don't have to restrain her so much.

I bought a Pedipaws on ebay when I saw one for 10.95 + free shipping. I was pleased to see the instructions that said to get your pet used to it gradually & use treats (seemed like a smart & responsible thing for a company to say!). I did one nail of Gibson's last weekend and it worked great, but I did not want to overwhelm him so I stopped at one. Today, I sat down w/some leftover dark meat chicken (the stuff that I don't want haha), put Gibson in my lap, filed his nails down and treated him! I got every single one of them done in just a few minutes. It worked great! I could actually see the nail getting smaller in just a few seconds. Before, Gibson would freak out if I came near him w/the old clippers. I'm so glad I can finally get his nails down to a normal size!!
