Ok, so Ender has this really weird way of getting the biscuit out of the Kong... I thought that dogs are supposed to try to lick or bite the biscuit out the Kong. What Ender will do is pick up the Kong with his teeth, and slam it into the ground (sometimes he'll throw it up in the air). He'll do this for a while and eventually the biscuit falls out. Is that what your Corgis or other dogs do? It just seems like cheating... heh

My late German Shepherd, Max, used to throw it down the stairs and watch to see if the biscuit would fall out. If that didn't work, he would toss it in the air and wait for the treat to come out. My Corgi, Sophie, occasionally does a variation on the toss in air trick. I'm not surprised that dogs will think to do this, seeing as how intelligent and resourceful they are, especially where food is involved!
Bernie throws her kong around. I find it hilarious.

Dogs problem solve things differently so what one dog does one way another dog will do a completely different way. If you're using dry treats and they fall out easily he may find the easiest way is to throw it around and see what happens. You can moisten the treats or add peanut butter or cream cheese to make it harder to get it out by throwing if that is what you're looking for.
Well I guess I was just surprised to see him do this. It still takes him a while to get the treat out (though it's probably quicker than trying to bite/lick it out), but it was an approach I hadn't even thought of.
Yes this is what Lance does too! They are very smart arent they! Lance will also sit on the couch and drop it down below or I have seen him toss it down the stairs. Mostly he throws it out of his mouth over and over, lol. I get a kick out of watching him do this. There are other times he will lick it too, just depends how fast he wants that treat I guess! : )
Our Soffie also throws her kong to the ground....over and over....to loosen the treat.
So it's a Corgi (or a smart dog) thing!

I had asked about this because I've seen two other dogs play with their Kong (a King Charles Cav and a Pekinese) and they were both just trying to get to the treats with their tongues and teeth. Neither of them thought to throw it around...

Man, I think Corgis are the smartest breed ever
Penelope does this with her Busy Buddy Waggle especially. The Kong had a bigger hole, so she'll often "dig" into it, but she will do this often.
Yes Lance also does this with his Busy Buddy Waggle as well, how could I forget!
My Ein does that. We also have this toy called the "molecule ball" that looks like three small balls attached. It takes Ein a little longer to get all the treat of it.
What's the name of this toy? Can you get it at PetSmart (or online anywhere)? I need something else to keep Ender busy!
I've taken to hiding food and treats around my house. I'll keep him in a room for a few minutes, go and place stuff behind couches, under tables, in corners, etc, and then "let out the dog(s)" so to speak. That tends to keep him busy for a while. I also hide the Kong itself so when he finds it = double mental stimulation (at least, that's how I do the math).
To make the Kong more difficult for your pup I have used yogurt and either kibble or small treat tidbits. Fill and freeze. Can be messy so keep them in an area that is easy to clean. Be creative, you can make home made frosty paws recipe as well. My dogs love it!
