Okay so maybe I'm just being paranoid, but I heard from a few people that antler chews are a great alternative to bully sticks (no mess, no smell, etc.) so I bought one for Dax. It just came in and I guess I never really thought about the fact that it's an antler (duh), and I'm actually almost a little worried that it's going to break his teeth because it's so hard, and he's the type that likes to bite things with his back teeth to try and break it in half. He's chewing on it now and trust me, he's ecstatic about it. He loves it. But I'm paranoid. Anyone had any experiences with these?

I think most dogs out there are smart enough that they won't break their teeth on something hard. Wolves in the wild chew on animal bones to get at the marrow inside, if they hadn't evolved some kind of mechanism to make sure they don't break their teeth off, I think they wouldn't be a very successful species.
Atlas chews on cow leg bones, and we have had no problems.
Plus if your dog is a good chewer it really helps keep their teeth clean.
Grover has had two of these and he's a hard core chewer too! He usually destroys most bones (even the hard nylabones). These don't seem to cause issues with his teeth. It looks like his teeth just slide over the antler when he bites down hard.

We have had the issue with the Y shaped part of the antler...he broke into that middle section and OH MY, did it stink!! It was horrible! I had to throw it away! I think he cracked into a particularly stinky part of the marrow! Anyone else have this issue with these? I order from the company that Kelly suggested this time around, not the one I used before. Maybe it will be a little different this time!.
We're getting our second set of antlers from the site you suggested! Thanks!
Pooka enjoys herself an antler

Nom nom nom...

Looks like she's really liking it!
She's enjoying that isn't she! So far so good with Dax's. It's wearing down a good bit so far, he loves it! I love that it doesn't turn to mush on the part that he's chewing on, I can actually pick it up and wash it off mid-chew. Best $5 I ever spent on him. :)
I just bought an antler chew for Ginny this week. They started carrying them in the petstore we shop at. It was $10, seemed a little expensive, but I figured if it lasts longer than the bully sticks do, we'll be golden. It took her a while before she'd start chewing on it. I don't think she realized it was a chewie right away because they don't really smell.... like anything. After she didn't discover she could chew on it, she seems to really be enjoying it. She's kind of grinding on it with her back teeth, and it looks like it will take a long time for her to wear it down. So far, so good.
I bought Toby a couple of these. He'll chew on it for a little while, but then kinda loses interest. Maybe I should smear peanut butter on it...
