Gracie didn't come to us micro-chipped and our puppy class instructor suggested we get that done. Are your microchipped? My vet charges $75. I was wondering if this is the standard cost.

Leo is microchipped. I think it cost about that, $75.00. Randy will get his chip next month when he goes in for neutering. I prefer to wait until then so the chip injection won't hurt (that is if the vet remembers to do it while he's under). Actually the vet forgot to do Leo's until I came to pick him up and he didn't fuss at all when they did it so maybe it is not all that bad for pain. I registered his microchip also, they don't do as much good if your name and phone number are not associated with the chip. I think they are a good idea.
Absolutely! I don't know how much it cost because we got on a plan with our vet when we got Barkley, a type of insurance, so we paid for all of his care for the year including his neutering and microchipping. It's nice because if he's sick and we're worried at all we can take him in and not pay for anything accept medicine if it's needed. It's pretty nice but that only applies at our vet and they only work during regular business hours and on Saturday.
It's a good thing to do. My vet charged $49 dollars for it and it didn't bother Teddy at all when they put it in. I feel so much better having it.
That is the way I feel also. A collar can be lost but a chip cannot. Gives me peace of mind and with Home Again (my brand of chip) they are proactive in finding lost pets through web sites, email and universal chip reading capabilities).
I have all my dogs and my horses microchipped that way if someone trys to steal them or they get lot you can get them back.
We have our boy chipped! I think it should be mandatory country wide!!! I know our state is slowly working its way towards it! We payed $50.00 including vet app. I know our local shelter only charges $10.00 to do it! I feel better knowing its done!
I had Reaghan mico-chipped at 12 weeks. It cost $45 at my vet, but it's less expensive at the dog pound. But I figured since she was getting her shots that day I might as well go with the higher price. But Reaghan did great getting it, a small yip and that was it. And those needles are huge! The vet was going to take her to the back to do it, in courtesy of the owner having to watch the pup be hurt. I've grown up with horses and numerous other animals who I've had to give shots to myself. So I had the vet just do it in front of me. I think it should be a mandatory thing nation wide for animals to be microchipped. It would help out with the stray animal issue immensly.
Jordan was chipped with his puppy package from Banfield, My lab is not chipped but he's old and doesn't wonder and i'm pretty sure nobody wants him but me! Teagen will be chipped at her spay though. My Corgi's seem to be willing to go off with anybody who smiles at them so I have more concerns with them, plus their young and pretty cute still.
We had Sami done when she was spayed about 3 weeks ago but the mirco-chip was only $37.40 that includes tax and one yr. free service from Home Again. We feel much better knowing she has it. And that type of assurance is priceless but it never hurts to shop around.
