I was reading up on some flea/heart worm drops and ran across Revolution, which is said to not only cover flea/heart worms/intestinal worms/ and ticks.

Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm a bit hesitant to switch Freya over to something new right away, but I'm curious about it all the same. It would be perfect as we have ticks in Georgia.

Thank you.

I prefer sentinel as a monthly heart worm pilll, so I just mix it in with their food. If things get a little rough, pair it with comfortis. It's the most powerful combination so far.
The two Sam mentioned are better. There have been some reports of "bleed through" on Revolution and dogs and cats coming up with heartworms while even on treatment.
I used Revolution on my corgis for a year about 2-3 years ago. Had no health problems and was happy with the results. I didn't renew the prescription b/c I got another dog and couldn't afford to have them all on it and used another heartworm prevention product. Now that I just have 2 I started them on advantage multi last month. So far so good. Fleas are a bigger problem than ticks for us. Had to use capstar to clear up the fleas b/c the over the counter stuff does not help at all while waiting on the advantage to arrive. Happy to report that they are completely flea free. Unfortunately there is no such thing as a risk free product. I considered sentinal too, from what I read it sounds to be a very effective product.
I'm currently trying Revolution and so far it's been great. Though I will admit, I am paranoid about the "bleed through" and Freya getting heart worms. So I'll probably switch her back to Advantage Multi. After boyfriend found 8 ticks on his dog, I started to get a bit paranoid about the ticks....can't you tell I'm a first time mommy? I've toned down some, but I still worry.

I will say that with Revolution I haven't noticed her scratch as much--I think the fleas are more resistant to it than the Advantage Multi. Sadly Frontline does not work at all. Sam, I'm going to look into the pills you mentioned--I believe Comfortis is a pill right? If anything, I'll get some Capstar for the last week in the month before giving Freya her Advantage Multi again.

I wish there was an alternative or that Advantage Multi included ticks in their products for protection. Thank you for all of your advice.
I used Revolution for a few years and it worked fine but I switched to Sentinel because the broader coverage for intestinal parasites. They eat it right up like a treat. They are beef flavored and have had no issues with it.
Mickey just started Revolution today after I found fleas (I swear they were GIANT fleas) on him. Can someone explain what bleed through is? I looked it up but with no results. I am not sure if I am comfortable with the product so any other results form people would be great :)
With my experience Revolution is by far the best product for killing fleas/larva/eggs. Sentinel Is also a great product and covers the same parasite protection as revolution but is more effective (kills parasites in every stage). When using revolution I always recommend to buy monthly dewormers. Sentinel DOES NOT kill fleas..it only sterilizes (not able to lay eggs) the female flea so you will never have a flea infestation. So you may still find fleas on your dog. Animals with flea allergies this maybe a problem. Little lap dog that don't go outside much, this product would be great for.
The thing I bet most of you don't know is that Advantage(multi) is actually a pesticide. I would never put a pesticide on my dog. Revolution is a medication that is adsorbed into the blood stream, that's why it protects so well. Pesticides just sit in that one spot and may wash away in time. Also revolution has a high safety rating...pesticides don't.
