Anyone elses corgi not jump up on things?

Loki won't jump up on the couch or the bed, he will jump off the couch, and sometimes the bed though (bed a good 2.5-3' up so jumping up is not expected anyway). To get him on the couch, should he feel the need, he waits to be lifted.

He runs, jumps and everything else to catch balls at light speed, but never jumps on the couch (kind of nice) he also won't do stairs with more than 2 steps, but where we live (10th floor) we fortunately don't need to deal with stairs on a day to day basis. The other problem is a lot of the outdoor stairs are open steel, he likes the idea of those even less.

Gwynnie is particularly reluctant to jump from a slippery surface (hardwood floor). We have rubber-backed throw rugs everywhere she needs to launch from or land upon. I don't like to think about all the D.I.Y. effort and expense of installing the hardwood floor. The dogs would likely prefer the musty old carpet.
We've provided a step for the bed.

Loki sounds smart and well-behaved to me. I bought steps for Lucy because I was afraid over time she might hurt her back jumping up and down from my bed, especially now that the mattresses are so much higher. Are you concerned that there may be something wrong with Loki?

not concerned about him in the least, when we play fetch it is him bolting across a large field , 30-40 yards a throw jumping if need be to catch the nefarious bouncy ball. Never shows any sign of discomfort from exercise, just doesn't like to jump.

The well behaved is relative I suppose, not the most obedient dog I've had but listens when it counts.

I have not thought that it might be the wood flooring in our apartment that would deter the jumping, as he will still run around in it, interesting idea though, happier without him on the upholstery all the time regardless. He has always had wood floors/linoleum tile.

Finn won't jump on things and we've found that he just can't do it. Has Loki EVER jumped up on the couch or into the car or everything? Finn would sometimes try when he was little but he couldn't get more than a couple inches off the ground. He learned to use the stairs (going up only) but it was quite a workout for his stubby legs. He's a year old now and still can't jump up. He learned to get on the couch by using a chest we have next to the couch as a step. I assumed this was normal up until he was about 10 months old at which time I looked at other Corgis (especially Cardis) and found that they are quite good at jumping. Finn has bad hips and that combined with a lack of strength in his hind legs is likely why he can't do it. He's a fast runner and maneuvers very well so I didn't suspect muscle weakness right away. I'm not saying I think anything is wrong with Loki though. How old is he anyway?

yep I have seen him jump over things the height of my knee, so about 16-18". Loki is currently 11 months, and his rear legs are pretty corded with muscles, you can see pits and rises and whatnot, especially when he tries to do his business , haha. He is problem the best shape dog on the block easily and most muscular I've had.

I have trained Pebble not to jump on the couch and my bed.
I think in general she doesn't jump on anything.

She has the ability to jump on my couch/bed but she just doesn't like to do it.
Sometimes her toys are on the couch, but she will just jump high enough to get the toy instead of actually jumping on it.

I'm very happy about that.
