We decided it was time for Finnigan to get a new ID tag since he was still wearing the one we made him when he was 8 weeks old. It took us forever to decide what to engrave on it given that we only had 4 lines to utilize. It made me wonder what most people put on their pet's tags. We ended up putting his name, my phone # and our vet's phone #. I considered putting his chip ID # but wasn't sure if that would be a good idea. What do all of you put on your Corgi's tag?

Quillin leather and tack here in Kentucky (they make halters for the horse farms around here - they made Secretariat's :) makes dog collars with the brass plates, so nothing dangles.

I like this. Nothing to fall off or rattle. I've found dog tags in the gutter.
We found 2 pointers in a remote area in central Washington. Had radio collars, but had still run off during a training. They had a plate on the collar with a #, we climbed a hill, got cellphone access, and the owned was there in under an hour.
I really like this idea!!! Christmas present...hmmmm
I've spoke with my vet to see if they would make it a policy to scan microchips of pets, they said yes; however pet parents don't always update their information. So I asked they make it policy in their office to call and confirm with whatever information the microchip pulls up at the vets to see if they still have the dog, with the correct pet parent. Thankfully, now it's a policy at my vet. After all our dogs can't tell them where they need to be and with who. =)
I put My dog's name with our last name and cell phone number. We decided to put cell phone number since we travel with her quite a bit, and if she gets lost while away from home, it only made sense to have the cell number on the tag. We put reflective cover (from Petsmart) so it doesn't make much noise. :) She's microchipped but won't put that on the tag. Isn't that the whole point of having microchip IN her?? So in case, she doesn't have the tag, they have way of finding the owner??
Some people think it helps to put on the tag that the dog is microchipped or to put the chip ID for a couple reasons, one being that not every person who finds a dog thinks to have them checked for a chip and even having the chip manufacturer listed may help if different scanners are needed for different chips (this part I'm not sure about but it would be awful if a shelter didn't read the chip because they didn't have the proper scanner), and another reason is to deter people from steeling the dog. If they think erasing the dogs home/family information is as easy as removing their tags, they may think twice when they realize the dog is chipped.
Adora has 3 tags, the one we bought has her name and my phone number, she was given a take with her Chip # when she got chipped(which will give both vet and home # when scanned), and she has tag for proof of licence. even though she only NEEDS to wear 2 we have all three, we have her wear the Chip tag just for peice of mind.
Check the security of your tags. I returned a loose dog today whose ID tag with phone# had fallen off; found the owner by tracking the rabies #.
I checked Gwynn's, and the hole on her tough stainless steel tag has almost worn through, just from swinging on the ring, 3rd time in 7 years.
We put 2 phone numbers and their names either on the front or if any special info goes on the front the names will go on the back. With my Shuffles the front of his tag said Be gentle in little letters and fear biter in large cap. letters however with that much info. we had an engraving shop do the tag so we could buy a bigger one. they also have their curtisy vet tags that have the vets name, number, and address on it because they are authorized to provide any vet care upon arrival of the dog at their clinic. I do not keep their rabies or licenes on their collars as the vet and I have access to that info. They are also microchipped.
I use boomerang tags on my dogs. They clip onto the collar itself so they don't dangle.
